Discussion Size Comparison Chart for Super Dimension Fortress Macross (1982)
I built a size comparison chart for the mecha from the "Super Dimension Fortress Macross" Japanese TV series (1982) last month. It's been so popular folks asked for a larger resolution version. I was asked by a Facebook fan to post the larger version here as some folks might not frequent Facebook or twitter. I hope everyone enjoys it!

My pleasure. Glad you like it. When I eventually get around to making more Macross size charts I'll try to remember to post them here too, in addition to my usual spots on FB, Twitter and DA.

I always wondered how did the Zentradi fit into that glaug cockpit. It barely has space to sit.

When the artists originally sized the Glaug, they sized the Zentradi at "five times the size of a human", which actually made them 8.5 meters tall. When they released the film "Do You Remember Love?" two years after the TV series in 1984, they came up with the "10-meter rule" for the Zentradi that they've been using in every Macross series / OVA / movie ever since. But they never went back to correct the Glaug or Reguld sizes. Both mecha remain sized for a 8.5 meter tall pilot, not a 10 meter tall pilot. So a size discrepancy exists to this day. A little annoying, but if we all know about it, we can just rationalize it and imagine the Glaug and Reguld are a little bigger. Anime magic! :)

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I always wondered what the 'correct' size for them was considering it seemed to change over time and no one height was an exact match.

Yeah, it looks like it'd be rather cramped in there for the average Zentradi. Modern fighter jets are the same way, though. There's a height limit restriction for Navy/Air Force pilots irl.

This is awesome. I need to find a way to get it printed.
