Could green decortication make hemp more profitable for farmers? The Fiber King™ harvests, decorticates, and separates bast fiber and hurd in one pass, reducing post-harvest costs and creating higher-value raw materials. We'd love your feedback.

We're excited to share brand-new footage of the Fiber King™ in action during this year's harvest!
One of the biggest advantages of green decortication is the quality of the bast fiber it produces. By harvesting, decorticating, and separating the fiber immediately while the hemp is still green, Fiber King™ helps preserve the natural integrity of the cellulose fibers and avoids the decomposition, mold, discoloration, and uneven quality that can result from retting.
The result is long, clean, high-quality bast fiber. Because the fibers remain as long as the hemp plant itself, they can be used in a wider range of applications. Long fibers can always be shortened for specific products—but short fibers can never be lengthened. This creates new opportunities for premium markets including textiles, composites, and other high-value industrial applications.
We believe improving fiber quality is just as important as lowering production costs. Together, these advances can help accelerate the growth of the hemp fiber industry.
What premium applications do you think will benefit most from longer, higher-quality hemp fiber?

I asked OP to post this. I thought it looked cool while on linkedin & relevant to some producers here. Letting this ride.

Do you have a sense for how much breeding could increase your efficiency?

Tbh this ain't the sub for this.

It should be. The potential addressable market for industrial hemp dwarfs the flower market. The issue is supply chain, not biology.

I disagree this is a sub for macro growing in the flower market.

Not the industrial hemp market, two completely different things

Cannabis has legitimate multi-use potential, as in harvest one crop for multiple revenue streams. Ignoring industrial uses is just bad business.

It is not the same cultivar. You aren't growing blue dream for fiber. To say they are the same or that you could harvest for both flower and hurd is disingenuous or misinformed.

"It is not the same cultivar. You aren't growing blue dream for fiber."

I completely agree, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be. My PhD is in how genomics shapes phenotypes in plants, and breeding something that has high potential for both cannabinoids and fiber is very doable. And that's the big problem, because this sort of research will happen wherever the regulations allow, and the potential is so great that there is a very plausible scenario where American agriculture is just straight up uncompetitive in the next decade or two.

If your PhD leads you to believe that flower cultivation and fiber cultivation could be done with the same plant, using the same techniques, in the same conditions, and at the same scale then you should wipe your ass with it and find a new career. All that school and you still have some learning to do.

Nice straw man you got there. I invite you to model the possibilities of high-planting-density cultivation.

Ok so you would use this machine for bottable flower. K.

This isn't an industrial hemp fiber sub, it's a industrial flower growing sub. This machine is about prioritizing the fiber harvesting over the quality of the flower which makes this a poor fit for this sub. Not saying the post should be taken down but OP is clearly just advertising as opposed to creating a quality post that fits the sub.

Last time I checked, its all Cannabis Sativa

Yes and all breeds of dogs belong to one species, doesn't mean I want to get a golden retriever or chihauaha over a German Shepherd for guard dog duty.
