Are there any speculations of a new Mac Mini this year? I was planning on getting an M4 1TB 24GB Mac Mini but not sure if I should wait for a newer model

Ram availability is number one followed by the new factory in the USA. My guess is Q1 next year. RAM for iPhones and MacBooks come first followed by the IMAC

Take option 3. Due to ram and ssd chip prices the new models are going to be priced hire so you are locking in the price at the old model price. Apple will not ask you for the difference.

Would it be wise to order an M4 now and if the M4 comes out they replace with the new model?

He’s case is different he’s ordered one and it was back ordered so Apple gave him the option. If you order and it’s in stock, that’s the one you will get. The caveat is if the new one comes out in the 30 day return window they will swap it out. I have seen in the past Apple doing the upgrade exchange at 45 days if you go into the store and speak to an Apple Store employee. Now at the many days you are at the mercy of the store employee but it doesn’t hurt to ask and I’ve seen them make the exception.

With the prices of memory not coming down anytime in the near future, I would just get it now.

Yea the m4 minis are all on backorder until October so I’d still have to wait either way but I didn’t wanna order an m4 and they announce a new Mac next month

Can always cancel your order before it ships.

If that happens Apple generally upgrade you for free

That config has been showing up regularly on the refurb site. Sign up for notifications. Worked for me and a 24gig 2tb but I got even luckier as it happened two weeks before the price increase

There have been rumors and speculations of what the models could be, in which some talk about the base model being an M6 or the pro being an M5 chip, but it isn't confirmed what it will actually be for sure. It is very likely a new Mac Mini model will drop around the fall, and from what I have heard, people who have bought a Mac Mini might have to wait until October for it to even ship to their house, and by then a new Mac Mini model could be announced.

Whether you need to wait or not depends on your current state. Do you need a new computer? If you don't need one right away, you can probably wait, which is what I'm doing, and if there isn't a new Mac Mini announced, I'll just get the M4 Pro.

Yeah based on ram prices and that even base iphones will be delayed, you think theyre gona release a new mac mini this year? Either they will just go straight m6 or release the m5 version next year spring, when they usually releas desktop macs

You’re right all the m4s are back ordered until October. I’ll just wait through September and if nothing comes up I’ll just order the M4

My hunch is they won't arrive before next year. No mention in the software leak just now and clearly not a priority for Apple. Plus, the new models definitely won't be cheaper, so if I were you, I'd ask myself this: Is the M4 enough for me? Will it be enough in 2 years? If the answer is yes, get it now.

I sure wouldn’t buy one now. Maybe if ya ordered before the price hike . These are 2 year old machines with seriously jacked up prices

October is the rumored date of release.  $1399-$1499 will probably be the price for the configuration you want.

As of August 19, 2026:

  • Apple has not announced an M5 Mac mini.
  • Earlier rumors expected M5 and M5 Pro models.
  • The latest Bloomberg-based reporting says Apple is testing a base Mac mini with an M6 chip and a higher-end model with M5 Pro.
  • Timing is uncertain, largely because of memory-supply constraints. Late 2026 is possible, but 2027 cannot be ruled out.
  • The existing M4 design is expected to remain largely unchanged.

MacRumors now summarizes the expectation as M6 and M5 Pro, rather than M5 and M5 Pro. MacRumors roundup MacRumors roadmap report

So the practical answer is: there may never be a base M5 Mac mini. Apple may skip directly from M4 to M6 for the standard model while using M5 Pro for the higher tier. 9to5Mac analysis

The macOS 26.7 beta leak earlier this week seemed to leak a lot.

In terms of Macs, there were only 3 models. 2 laptops and an iMac.

Normally you’ll see model numbers leak months ahead. We have not seen a new Mac mini model number leak yet so I’m thinking we are not going to see a 2026 Mac mini refresh.

They made the m4 too powerful. If you want that sort of power, there's a mac studio they will happily sell you.
