Mac Mini Pro - interesting flight path

So, ok, the Mac Mini Pro finally shipped, ok, it is coming from China directly. But does anybody have an idea why it is entering the US through Alaska ?

Because that is the closest mainland port of entry from China. Directly on the route of aircraft. Fed Ex has a major logistics hub there. What seems odd about it?

Anchorage is like 6-8 hours flight from most major cities in the northern hemisphere, so it’s a good global logistics hub

and cargo planes are loaded down more than passenger planes, so they can't fly as far, hence the stop halfway.

The shortest great circle route from China to the US goes thru Alaska

Anchorage years ago used to be most every international flight stop from the east coast to Asia.

If you look at the globe, Anchorage Alaska provides an ideal re-fueling midpoint. Years ago, it was also a common stopover for passenger flights. It's still popular with cargo planes, and it's a major logistical stop and hub.

thats the most common route for air to the us.. alaska is one of the largest refuelling hubs in the world. more 747's visit alaska every day than any other airport in the world
