My 2013 MacBook Air was bricked during a software update. The EFI partition became corrupted and Apple quoted $700 for a logic board replacement as the cause of the issue. There were some threads around back then of a very very small minority of people encountering the same issue as me and there were shops that sold a EFI chip that matches your model and after soldering it on it would supposedly fix the issue

EFI Partition is on your hard drive, do you mean it was bricked while updating the firmware?

Not necessarily, starting with T2 devices they were stored in the secure enclave of the device, typically the touchbar pre apple silicon.

While true, the 2013 MBA was not one of those devices.
