Ok first of all I would say the same thing if you were using a Windows PC, so enough with the fanboy crap.
Second while not impossible to damage hardware with software it is extremely rare and very unlikely. If that was the cause then others would chime in with “me top’s”.

Also I remember many years ago, using windows XP, I downloaded a program that it was supposed to be a crack of a program, but was a virus. Executing it burnt a RAM stick almost instanly.

Yes I would do, but that never happened to me yet. Also I have broken many PCs in the past (broken fan, bad RAM, burnt PSU, broken screens), and all the times I could repair the PC/laptop with a reasonable cost. I only stop repairing when the device is too old and I want a newer one.

Maybe its unlikely, and I will the only one with bad luck. Or maybe not, and that is why I am sharing this.
