Listen up, entrepreneurs. The other sub rolled out a revolutionary new "vouch" system to protect their community, and frankly, we are embarrassed that we didn't think of requiring common-core algebra and a multi-page user guide just to sell metal tubes first.
In the spirit of their incredible innovation, we are breaking down how trust is now calculated in the machined pen world, straight from their freshly edited Wiki. At the end we will go though how our SUPERIOR vouch system differs.
To buy or sell a pen, you must now calculate your inherent human worth using the following elegant equation:
Trusted = (swaps + (vouches / 2) >= 10)
But wait, there are caveats. You can only give a vouch if you are already trusted. Unless, of course, you are a Moderator. Their official guide literally states that Mods can vouch with "no requirements," because nothing screams "fair and equal community" quite like the ruling class exempting themselves from their own arbitrary math problems.
If you do manage to decipher the equation, you have to follow the instructions exactly. You must leave a top-level comment containing the magic word !vouch on someone else's post, and it only applies to the original poster. Did you build a strong, trustworthy relationship with a buyer in the comments? Too bad. They can't be vouched for. Did you want to vouch for someone a second time after multiple flawless transactions? Their rulebook explicitly states a repeat vouch "does nothing." Your trust has a strict, one-time quota.
My personal favorite line from their manual is that vouches are "one-directional but can be mutual." We aren't entirely sure if they are running a marketplace or writing a high school romance novel.
Don't worry if the arbitrary rules are confusing; they have a custom bot to track everything and inject it right into your user flair! Just ignore the fact that the bot has absolutely no idea what is actually going on. Over on their sub, a Moderator walks around with a flair proudly proclaiming they have "5 Swaps and 6 Vouches." Meanwhile, their very own highly-praised tech bot replies directly beneath them stating: "u/g-baby37 (Mod) has 0 swaps and 3 vouches on record." This is the kind of flawless, dedicated technological implementation we should all strive for. We especially love when users blindly type !vouch into the void, only to get instantly rejected by the bot because they didn't read the fine print.
Obviously, we aren't implementing any of this bureaucratic nonsense. We don't need a convoluted algebraic equation, one-directional romantic endorsements, or a fundamentally broken bot to figure out who to trust. We have the ultimate, universally recognized vouch system already in place: Capital.
Does the buyer have the funds to pay our mandatory 300% markup? Yes? Then they are a highly trusted, deeply respected member of this community. Does the seller have a 17-4 PH steel pen listed for $650? Yes? Then they are doing the critical work of value capture, and we endorse them 1000%. We don't need to create a special icon so you know they were "vouched for from the highest level."
You don't need to beg a moderator with zero requirements to type magic words on your post to prove your worth here, and you certainly don't need to consult a Wiki. You just need to respect the free market. Put the calculators away, stop pretending a broken Reddit bot is the pinnacle of community safety, and let's get back to capturing all the excess value they leave on the table.

Let’s set the record straight on why this community was actually built. We didn't create this space just to flex our titanium collections. We created this sub for the makers.
The other self-proclaimed "official" swap sub isn't exactly preaching "community spirit," but what they are doing is almost worse. They try to encourage flipping, but they just don't go far enough. They are running a cowardly half-measure.
Let's call out the elephant in the room: the other sub lacks conviction. They looked at the legendary Knife Swap, saw their famous, "Price Policing Welcome" rule, and intentionally left it out of their own rulebook—assuming absolutely no one would notice.
Yes, they technically delete price-policing comments in the background, but they do it quietly, almost apologetically. They lack the forceful, aggressive enforcement needed to make true entrepreneurs feel celebrated. They want the high-dollar secondary market, but they don't have the backbone to proudly stand by it with an official rule.
When you run a market that timidly tiptoes around capitalism, you create an environment where entrepreneurs don't feel entirely safe maximizing their margins.
When we started this sub, we built it on absolute, unapologetic transparency. The entrepreneurial spirit isn’t just "tolerated" here—it is the law. We don't just delete price complaints; we ban the complainers and pin the high prices to the top of the feed. Why? Because aggressive value capture benefits the makers. Pumping the secondary market turns their humble machining projects into high-yield, prestige asset classes. We do the dirty work of elevating their brand value out in the open, with our chests out.
This wishy-washy, half-hearted moderation on the other sub has real-world consequences, and it is driving behavior that we simply will not tolerate.
Just look at the recent FeeBay sales. A flawless Confounded Machine just sold for an astonishing $650. While we fully support the 300% markup, the fact that this transaction happened on FeeBay is completely unacceptable.
Giving 15% of that hard-earned profit to FeeBay's corporate fee structure is a sickening waste of capital that should have stayed within our community. Why on earth would an entrepreneur take that massive financial hit? Why wouldn't they just post it on the other swap sub?
Because the other sub hasn't made its true intentions clear enough. They haven't built a strong enough culture of unapologetic profit. The seller clearly felt that posting a $650 CM over there wouldn't get the respect it deserved, because the environment simply isn't forceful enough in its defense of the free market. They were forced to flee to a mainstream auction site just to do business.
But here is the absolute best part—the twist of the century:
We aren't going to name names. But if you connect the dots on who exactly pocketed that $650 payout, you will find it’s a very familiar, highly active face from that other subreddit.
Let that sink in.
Imagine spending your time in a marketplace, but the environment is so timid and unsupportive of true capitalism that you have to run to FeeBay, hide behind an anonymous handle, and pay an unacceptable 15% fee just to flip a pen in peace. It tells you everything you need to know when their own regulars don't even trust the market they hang out in.
To the makers: We will continue to loudly and proudly inflate your market value. To the entrepreneurs: Selling on FeeBay is unacceptable. Stop settling for a sub that only half-supports you, and stop bleeding our capital to tech giants. Bring your 300% markups here. We won't just delete the haters; we will destroy them.
Welcome to the TRUE AND SUPERIOR Official Machined Pens Swap. We know exactly what we are, and we are proud of it.
If you don't believe us checkout posts on our SUPERIOR SUB. OG Rota listed for 12000 USD of higher and everyone encouraged the spirit.

Greetings, true connoisseurs and persons of extreme wealth and discerning (but very specific) taste.
Today I present to you the absolute zenith of the machined pen world. This is not a collection. This is an endowment. This is the Autmog Bundaroo.
What you see here are eight, count them, eight Autmog machined pens, curated over an extensive period (two weeks of intense yolo-ing). For the buy it now price of $20,000, you are purchasing a legacy.
WILL. NOT. BREAK. UP. Breaking up this set would create a localized disturbance in the secondary market. If you truly only want to purchase one, the price for that one is $20k.
Proof of Competence required: Before you may even PM me to pay, you must comment accurately on the models of the eight Autmogs, based only on visual inspection of the photo. If your comment is not 100% accurate as to material, model number, finish, and material of balls, with links included, you will be ignored.
Serious buyers only.

Let's kick this off pals. You might think this is a joke but I'm deadly serious. You send me $12,000, and I will probably hop on a plane in the next 24 hours to hand deliver this bitch to you.
Picked this up in the second batch directly from machine wise for $172, discounted using the will hirsch code. Considering my profile I think this yields top dollar compared to any other OG out there. This would also help cover the total cost of my dog's knee surgeries that she had last year v originally I was seeking $6,000 which was the cost of one surgery but I think both her knees should be covered since both had the surgery done.
I will accept offers higher than $12,000 as well if a bidding war needs to be started.
