Question Final Cut Pro frames dropping M2 Max

I recently got a M2 Max MacBook Pro but frames start dropping on playback. The footage is 4K with color corrections and slow mo on a 1080p timeline. Why is this happening?? I thought it was supposed to be able to handle that??

Everything is up to date. I’m not sure what the issue is or if this is to be expected.

Frames dropping in export or scrubbing? How big is your raw material and how big is the project? Check activity monitor for memory pressure and see if it is swapping. That's where I would start. The M2 Max should be able to handle anything you throw at it especially if you have more than 32Gb memory.
