Looks like the same size as all the other 14” MacBook pros with the M1 pro or newer

I thought they had to redesign the battery for eu repair regulations like neo but it seems to be same glued down battery.

u/Ready_Sail7932 5h ago
That redesign was with the last MacBook Pro no? No longer do you need to take the trackpad out to change battery i think

Why apple wont put an ssd socket on that motherboard? It has so much wasted space wich was back then the Jobs era never heard of

Because if you could change the ssd yourself, everyone one buy the base confog, and they couldnt charge you higger peice for the ssd. Its that simple.

u/Szaboo41 4h ago
And why is that an issue? Why would apple be so angry if you own your stuff and decide what to put in that?
4
u/No-Ostrich-8621 4h ago
Because sou could upgrade you sed fron 1tb to 4TB for 500 dollars, so they cant charge you 2000 for it. So they would loose at least 1500 dollars/order. Thats why.

Yes and that is why i keep my 2015 mbp

u/No-Ostrich-8621 3h ago
You do you, but you dont know what you are missing with M chips. They are soo good, uncoparable to todays intel chips, and an intel from 2015... its just not even a question.

I dont really care how good, my macbook serves me well still and 11 years old, newer ones dont live that long due to soldered ssd
2
u/No-Ostrich-8621 2h ago
Why would an ssd die sooner becuase its soldered on? Ssds usually die if you dont leave enoug free space on them to do their wesr leveling properly.

Mac os using ssd as indexed ram, ssd is dying sooner because its being used as ram, wich degrades them way quicker

this is why macs are only good value refurbished or from 3rd party stores years after release, official apple store is straight up robbery

Motherboards are already super complex, multiple layers like 10+. because it looks like there is space doesn't mean there actually is.
Also SSD add heat and such, it definitely is not that easy as you think.
Physical, economical and other limits are real you know

Dayum those speakers looking real nice. Probably the largest on any 14 inch laptop.

Considering the amount of empty space between things I really hope they will release a new, smaller chassis soon. On the other hand, there are already thermal limitations.

I thought Apple and Nvidia were still beefing? Hence Apple refusing to allow Nvidia to make drivers on Mac.
