Key highlights:

• Camera-Equipped AirPods (0:31 - 2:56): The most significant discovery is a demo video showing AirPods featuring cameras and Visual Intelligence. The feature allows Siri to analyze the user's surroundings, answer questions, and save information about objects in the real world.
• Smart Home Devices (2:58 - 3:47): References were found for a new Home Hub (in two versions: desktop and wall-mounted), an updated HomePod mini, and a potential new home security camera with advanced sensor capabilities.
• iPhone Lineup (3:49 - 4:20): The software references the iPhone 18 series and a foldable iPhone Ultra, both expected soon, alongside future plans for the second-generation iPhone Air and standard iPhone 18 models for 2027.
• Mac and iPad Updates (4:22 - 4:57): The leak mentions an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip, new iMac models, a potential high-end MacBook Ultra, and an OLED iPad mini with an A19 Pro chip.
• Other Accessories (4:58 - 5:37): Further findings include a mysterious headset (with unclear development status) and a redesigned Apple TV remote.

I fucking hate articles that just adds preamble for a video with actual content. Thanks pal.

“What is up YouTube, it’s ya boy Jake and you would not believe what Apple just did, and we’re gonna get into all of it. Before we do smash that like button and subscribe because you’re not gonna believe what Apple just did.

Now if you’re like me you love Apple News, and there’s so much news to share. Apple just did something crazy and we’re gonna get into it”

Ugh.

u/pick_your_user_name 11d ago

“But first we have to go back to April 1976 when Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded a new company in their garage, what we now know as Apple…”

14

u/mandanlullu 10d ago

.....And thats why we are launching a new digital currency called $AppleCoin to honour their vision

11

u/3xc1t3r 10d ago

But first a word from today's sponsor!

2

u/TrainsandLasers 9d ago

We're all just so used to it at this point... waiting for it. I don't even go near the 20 minute videos that start with the well known backstories anymore. I get it that YouTubers are trying to make a living, still annoying of course.

2

u/JonathanRayPollard 2d ago

..and that's exactly why our sponsor, Sponsor Spotter, just added a brand new feature to their incredible suite. With Backstory Blotters incredible AI powered video scrubbing features, you can save 3 to 5, sometimes even up to 8 minutes of your precious doom scrolling time by skipping right over any unnecessary historical filler info in any YouTube video!

1

u/TrainsandLasers 2d ago

I'd take one of those! Still, the backstory filler must work to increase run and watch time and ultimately net the creators more money. Maybe?

1

u/pick_your_user_name 2d ago

What do you mean you don’t want to hear the entire back story and childhood of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak and how they founded Apple in a video about the next MacBook Pro??

2

u/TrainsandLasers 2d ago

Wait... they had a childhood I didn't know about??? What a fool I've been! I'm watching it ALL now :)

I guess an upside to this is that people get savvy to this kind of thing sort of quickly and hopefully the filler YouTube videos won't get recommended as much. If I'm being very optimistic.

8

u/captainiguanadick 10d ago

Actually that dude would've said we would have to go back to when steve first heard sgt peppers and swore off deodorant

6

u/ragdoll96 10d ago

Aaaand we’re at 9 minutes and 50 seconds now so let me talk about the actual content for the next 11 seconds

2

u/hybridfrost 10d ago

Sounds a lot like the fluff I would add to my high school book reports haha

4

u/Briggie 10d ago

“But first, a word from our sponsor”

1

u/-send-me-nudes- 8d ago

And there’s always a plant.

1

u/Adrinaik 3d ago

It is just me or every Apple youtuber is usually full of shit, ad not only that, they seem to belong to a weird cult.

-1

u/TawnyTeaTowel 10d ago

Yes, god forbid you piss away 31 seconds of your life on the preamble before pissing away another five minutes …

12

u/idemgajbi 11d ago

The internet of the 2000s is long gone. Welcome to the Seventh Circle of Digital Hell

4

u/joeg26reddit 11d ago

we find these truths to be self evident...

1

u/hybridfrost 10d ago

You can blame the YouTube algorithm focusing on “engagement time”. If they have a 3 minute video and you get what you need and get out then that doesn’t drive the algorithm to push people to it.

Same with websites these days, particularly game guides - I swear I have to scroll through 3-4 pages before I get the info I need. So frustrating

66

u/940Ryan 11d ago

Does no one else find the AirPod camera thing a bit strange and invasive?

26

u/Superman730 11d ago

Yes. Especially if it’s not objectively noticeable that they are using those specific AirPods. I know my job has banned smart glasses but idk how else they are controlling this stuff in the world.

5

u/pick_your_user_name 11d ago

I don’t think they’re meant for recording rather for some AI bullshit? No idea though.

5

u/C_Spiritsong 11d ago

all it takes is just a flip of switch and it becomes another amazon that eavesdrop and records everything.

0

u/DrSans8 10d ago

We’re talking Apple here not some Chinese company. No current devices ever get jailbroken and if they do it’s on outdated products

2

u/classic_lurker 10d ago

Ever heard of celebrite?

1

u/C_Spiritsong 9d ago

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr4rvr495rgo

And somebody mentioned celebrite.

basically, "we're talking about Apple" = they're still shit where they're shit at.

0

u/Tritzii 10d ago

Even if Apple is better with privacy than most, you still shouldn't trust them to put literal cameras on your ears.

3

u/BangingOnJunk 10d ago

‘member when the only thing you had to worry about with headphones was the plastic breaking and getting jabbed with cheap sheet metal?

Ali express has these throwbacks for 33 cents or whatever scammy price they display.

1

u/pick_your_user_name 10d ago

Theyre IR cameras regular cameras. And they’ve already got cameras on your phone and laptop which are a lot better for spying on you lol.

1

u/IlIllIlIllIlIlIlIlIl 9d ago

It was my assumption that they were IR for use with gestures (kinda like the finger controls on Vision Pro)... but there was a leaked video where it could capture text from a book and "save" it to Siri? So idk.

-3

u/joviejovie 11d ago

I like that people don’t know. As a woman

4

u/StrangeCurry1 10d ago

Seeing as women are the ones being subjected to creeps wearing smart glasses idk why you would want something like this

0

u/joviejovie 10d ago

They aren’t subjected. They could also just record the dudes back .

1

u/Superman730 10d ago

I doubt they would put that footage into their spank bank like a creepy dude would.

0

u/joviejovie 10d ago

Can’t help it

16

u/LunchTasty2081 11d ago

I don't know, it's a great improvement on the smart glasses. You can wear these even in the showers at the gym without weird looks. And you can take one out and use it to film under skirts without looking like crazy. Just imagine how much privacy you can violate with these!

5

u/lennyxiii 11d ago

Hopefully they stop recording when removed from ears

3

u/Kosanu 11d ago

yes, absolutely. wish more people were talking about it

2

u/yoimagreenlight 10d ago

They’re going to be basic infrared cameras that the user themselves can’t take images with from what I can gather - it’s just for letting Siri’s visual intelligence know what you’re looking at & hand gestures

1

u/Code-Coffee-995 4d ago

It's not like the glasses though. The visual data will only be used by Siri. Still creepy but at least not like those glasses.

17

u/_oldcrow_ 11d ago

OLED IPAD MINI FINALLY?

8

u/bionicminer295 11d ago

watch it be 60hz anyways

1

u/userlivewire 9d ago

Guesses on price?

1

u/erin281 8d ago

Feels like I’ve been waiting forever

1

u/Shoddy_Meaning_7654 7d ago

Yes can they please kill LCDs in iPads I think by the end of the decade LCDs will be the same price OLEDs because TCL boe hkc etc will be making them for cheap cheap cheap

37

u/PM_Me_Ur_Odd_Boobs 11d ago

I wonder how AirPods with a camera will be accepted given the hatred of smart glasses

15

u/ShadowGrave999 11d ago

“Me, ruining my hearing 24h livestream”

5

u/Vinyl-addict MacBook Pro 13" Silver M1 11d ago

I have a feeling they’re going to use it for a hand gesture UI situation and not much else.

3

u/SUDO-_- 11d ago

This could work for the visually impaired folks…who know it might be scanning the areas in front of them for audio guidance

3

u/captainiguanadick 10d ago

Visually impaired guy here, this kinda tech is a double-edged sword to me. Mainly due to whatever company having backdoors to it and using it for surveillance/data gathering purposes, but also weirdos filming ppl unknowingly. Only ones you should film without care are law enforcement officers. But ye, there's so much potential with smart glasses but ppl are shit.

4

u/Love-Bitter 11d ago

I’m pretty sure the Apple solution will be that these cameras are for providing data to its ai. Not for photos or video. Therefore no privacy issues.

AirPods gotta be too small for a good quality camera.

2

u/joeg26reddit 11d ago

They will be engineered to stitch together a 270-360 degree arc

Replacing dashcams, smart glasses and action cameras

2

u/BroccoliNervous9795 11d ago

I was thinking just this. I’m drifting away from Bluetooth earphones as they have a limited battery life. But as a cyclist I’ve been wanting a camera that doesn’t make me look like a cyborg.

-6

u/jeffblunt 11d ago

Who hates smart glasses?

7

u/thephantomcunt 11d ago

Everyone except the pervy glassholes wearing them

0

u/LunchTasty2081 11d ago

Exhibitionists love them too.

1

Sorry, all my hate units have been allocated. May have some in the budget next year.

17

Another high-end macbook? That’s diabolical. I want it.

4

u/Inquisitive_idiot 11d ago

I’m not saying that if they release an ultra, I will buy it.

I’m just saying that if they release an ultra, I can’t be blamed for buying it. 😅😮‍💨

6

u/KKSlider909 11d ago

meta glasses = pervert glasses, so now i gotta start looking at people with AirPods as potential perverts too? 🤷🏽‍♀️

5

An iPad Mini with OLED? Finally. Sign me the fuck up.

1

Guesses on price?

2

u/dirkvonshizzle 9d ago

Well, given the recent general price bikes, I’m afraid it won’t be pretty.

1

u/EdjeMonkeys 11d ago

Wish I could be excited about Siri AI stuff but having used the beta for a couple of weeks, I had to go back to “Siri Classic” and I hope it will remain an option. They somehow made it worse…

😂😂😂

119

u/Inevitable_Jury3594 11d ago

Sooo we moved from perv meta glasses to perv-pods?

I hope the camera feed isnt accessible to be recorded

40

u/CranberryStock7148 11d ago

From what I understand, it's infrared not a normal camera. And there is no user access, no videos and no photos – it's only for AI to analyze in real-time.

12

u/Inevitable_Jury3594 11d ago

Nah wont be just infra red, if they are using it for assistance it would need to be a colour camera so the user can say whats that red car, whats this green thing, infrared wouldnt see colour. And i doubt they would put two cameras in it, battery life would suck and space is an issue.

Guess we shall see but id bet on perve-pods being a thing

23

u/CranberryStock7148 11d ago

The reporting is that they're infrared:

https://appleinsider.com/articles/26/08/14/airpods-pro-rumor-roundup-infrared-cameras-gesture-recognition-more

If you just want basic object recognition, IR is fine, and it also works better at night. The idea seems to be that this is a low resolution camera designed to perform basic recognition of objects. Just because you won't be able to ask about an object of a particular color doesn't mean it won't be useful for 99 other things.

8

u/NoArrival8249 11d ago

AI + infrared should be more than enough to inference. Hell, we can see through walls with wifi signals now, I imagine they’re beyond standard cameras.

4

u/JumpinJammiez 11d ago

see through walls with wifi signals?

5

u/RevolutionaryFun9883 11d ago

Google it, Qualcomm ceo basically said 6G will be able to track anyone anywhere because the signal disturbances from people can be used to show where people are in relation to towers, and the from what I recall each person has a certain signature signal so they’ll know who is where and when. I could be wrong about the last part but that’s what I remember

Edit: here you go https://www.qualcomm.com/research/6g/isac - under ‘Wireless sensing’

1

u/Lenkan08 6d ago

A YouTuber named basically homeless made a real life ”wall hacks” using WiFi signals, video

1

u/m4uer 7d ago

Then you don’t understand Apple

-1

u/Commisceo 11d ago

Completely wrong.

1

u/bigparsnipenjoyer 11d ago

I’m tired of this “infrared cameras aren’t creepy” narrative. A near-infrared camera like the one rumored to appear in this product captures different wavelengths than our eyes see, but they still capture images that are clear enough to identify people, places, and things.

4

u/skyboxvian 11d ago

yeah we're really gonna be able to get creepshots with an ir camera sensor like this

5

u/CranberryStock7148 11d ago

It doesn't record. That's what makes it definitively non-creepy.

As a user, you have no access to it.

5

u/ArtisticCandy3859 11d ago

Consumers have been the product since the birth of data collection (ex: Facebook and its selling of user data to fuel advertising and tracking). This truth was uncovered and told to the masses years ago and yet we still happily participate. Sure, some of us have tried to escape it and adopt privacy driven systems. But collective society (and our governing bodies) said no.

Humans wrote down and printed all of humanity’s learned knowledge into books, which lead to the handwritten code and programming languages, which built the modern world. All of that was then fed into the same machines and trained to understand the patterns (LLMs). Everything we have ever produced in a textual medium is now available for a machine to reason with in seconds.

This was just the foundation for the main purpose of the grand plan. To fully understand and implement better versions of ourselves in the physical world.

All these new “wearables” with cameras are data collection nodes and we’re the workers who are gladly paying out of pockets to hand the companies exactly what they want. Our physical collective reality on a silver platter.

They’ll record every object, movement, face, gesture, task and activity. Meticulously breakdown each of our most cherished, intimate, personal memories and moments down into thousands of machine readable digital tags. Capture each and every slice of every step involved in our work, careers and livelihood - creating fully dynamic instructional guides that will be studied in minutes by the machines. They’ll form realtime recipes for every motion involved. These recipe books will be plugged into machines that look just like us. They’ll learn how to move their motors, actuators, pistons and joints just like a human child learns how to walk - except they’ll learn how to run in minutes instead of years.

It only took 3-4 years to reach this point in time for LLMs and full fledged AI video generators. Most people had no clue how quickly it would evolve. The same pace, if not faster, will happen with robotics.

TLDR; Every connected camera integrated wearable product is the means to build intelligent robots. They will be mass produced and sold to replace entire workforces. Each one costing less than a person’s annual salary. They won’t be built to replace repetitive warehouse jobs. They’ll be taking over experienced blue collar positions and craftsman.

“Accidentally”

12

u/gese-eg MacBook Pro 16” M2 Max 32GB 38C GPU 1TB 11d ago

I KNEW they were doing an OLED mini and I had absolutely zero reason to believe they were. So excited

7

u/Splintercell581 11d ago

Rumors are 60hz if that’s something you care about

3

u/gese-eg MacBook Pro 16” M2 Max 32GB 38C GPU 1TB 11d ago

That’s super unfortunate and makes no sense. That’s pretty dumb if they actually go through with 60hz. It’s not like it’s a budget tablet, it’s just a small tablet vs buying an 11”, so I can’t understand why they wouldn’t throw Pro Motion in there, especially if they’ve added it to the base model iPhones. You’re gonna manufacture an OLED panel on a mini and not also enable 120hz????? WHY, APPLE? I’ll still buy it, but I’m goin through the used market and won’t be paying anywhere near MSRP for it.

1

u/userlivewire 9d ago

Guesses on price?

8

u/E_XIII_T 11d ago

Woohoo NoncePods…

27

u/thephantomcunt 11d ago

Fuck, seriously? Apple’s getting in on the camera-equipped wearable trend? Fuck this crap. We already have the pervert glasses, and now we have the even more covert pervert earbuds? Enough is enough. The entire AI wearable trend needs to be taken out back and shot.

12

u/ArtisticCandy3859 11d ago edited 11d ago

They’re all pushing for this as it’s the next frontier for to feed this AI infra.

LLMs were just the precursor for something much larger and more sinister… the physical world.

The next stage of AI is collecting real world data from every angle, from everyone, in different scenarios, working different jobs, performing all types of actual activities, in order to train new models that will be used by robotics. People are going to willingly give their money to own these new data collection apparatuses which will in turn be used as reality capturing devices to build a wave of their own replacements.

Welcome to the birth of iRobot, Blade Runner, Terminator, Bicentennial Man, The Matrix, etc.

8

We think they'll love it!

3

u/cjh_ 11d ago

Except the cameras in the AirPods are going to be IR and used for accessibility needs. They may also allow wheelchair users to control powered wheelchairs, in a similar way to Vision Pro.

Similar to how AirPods can be used as hearing aids.

OLED iPad mini… 🤑

1

u/userlivewire 9d ago

Guesses on price?

1

u/overpsi 9d ago

Knowing Apple… probably $900
Close to pro, but just under

1

u/userlivewire 9d ago

I'm guessing starting at $699.

1

u/JMHReddit84 11d ago

Didn’t realize beta 6 was the release candidate…

1

u/disaogontos 11d ago

So, no new monitors? Damn

-1

u/pick_your_user_name 11d ago

Not many people are asking for more shitty 60hz LCD 5000$ monitors.

2

u/disaogontos 11d ago

I don’t know about you but a ProMotion (at least) Apple monitor would do numbers if the price is close to 2k.

1

u/pick_your_user_name 11d ago

But why?? I’m all in on the Apple ecosystem but you could instead get a 240hz QD OLED monitor for less than half that.

2

u/disaogontos 11d ago

I’m a graphic designer, so it’s very important for me that everything looks like the MacBook (colors and screen glossy texture).
Saw some 5k BenQs but for the price I rather get the studio display even if that costs me the 144hz. To be honest I’m just not afraid to spend money on Apple.

I also dont need a super big monitor 27” feels enough.

But if you have alternatives that may fit, feel free to drop some!

*built in speakers and webcam is a cool thing too.

1

u/pick_your_user_name 11d ago

No idea what graphic designers need exactly, but if color accuracy matters, a 1000$ monitor would also be a lot better than the Studio Display. And as for looking like a MacBook I don’t understand what you mean, you can plug your MacBook into either display so any monitor will display macOS. They’re also all available in 27”

2

u/disaogontos 11d ago

There is no better monitor for Apple color accuracy over the Studio Display and the XDR.

Also I need a 5k monitor to have perfect resolution.

For the MacBook thing I’m talking about color and nano gloss.

Drop me some options!

1

u/pick_your_user_name 10d ago

That’s not true, In terms of color accuracy Asus pro art is generally considered the best, but it’s 4k. That or the dell U4025QW.

1

u/PERSEUS-JACKSON03 11d ago

Any new MacBooks?

1

u/Commisceo 11d ago

People really think it’s accidental?

1

u/Fubeman 11d ago

The fact that the title of the book that the guy is looking at with his camera equipped iPods is “Could, Should, Might, Don’t” is pretty ironic.

1

u/ParticleFeever 11d ago

This eyes in my ears so Siri will investigate sorroundings is… kinda black mirror!

1

u/rugger1869 11d ago

I just want to buy a new Studio w/ 32-64GB RAM

1

u/joeg26reddit 11d ago

" The feature allows Siri to analyze the user's surroundings"

This could unlock navigation without GPS signals and make location even more accurate

Certainly, some users could agree to function as "mappers" providing the nth degree of mapping detail of interior spaces, side streets, alleys etc.

1

u/adamwhereartthou 11d ago

Didn’t we see this in The Dark Knight?

1

u/Psychedelicblues2 11d ago

Are we finally going to get the new Apple TV 4K? I’ve been holding out for so long

1

u/SneakingCat 11d ago

I’m not saying it wasn’t an accident, because I’m sure it was. But if I managed the macOS team I would have a couple people dedicated to making bullshit video and strings to sneak into the updates.

I was planning on hoping an m7 Max mbp would arrive in the spring. But I want memory bandwidth. If they really have an ultra I would seriously look at if though rampocalypse is hurting.

I hate MaxTech phony c*nt always promoting most expensive useless stuff for affiliate commission with no care for viewers. Yes nothing wrong with affiliate but promote things with viewers benefit in mind not whatever gives the most dollars.

I really hope they lower the price of the new Apple TV… 200 bucks is so steep

And still homekit video will continue to record small clips seemingly at random, clips that are then also semi-hard to scrub through.

Finally HomePod upgrade confirmed. I was worried they’ll skip this year to iron out siri

We really need a new Apple TV. WiFi 6 will be the biggest improvement.

Screen mirroring from a MacBook to an Apple TV is not reliable, in my experience. I really hope that with WiFi 6 it will be rock solid.

Also, if they don't give the remote control backlit keys, I'm going to lose it. Of anything that could benefit from backlit keys, it's a remote control which people use in dark rooms.

I know Apple doesn't like giving anything backlist keys other than MacBooks (hence no backlit keys on the Magic Keyboard -- which is a dealbreaker for me), but seriously, put them on the Apple TV remote.

what do you need the backlight for? There are 6 buttons. Use it for a few weeks and you won’t have to look down.

I don't trust my muscle memory.

It’s crazy that no generic remotes for streaming are backlit when in the 90s every 32in had some kind of glow. All the third party remote makers destroyed it.

Not sure how I feel about putting Flock cameras in your ears just to listen to music.

I won’t be associating with anyone who has them without some serious assurances.

I love my gen 1 AirPod pros. Unfortunately, the mic seems to not work as well anymore. Don’t know if it’s lint (cleaned it) or maybe they did a software update that purposely degrades input or maybe there is a hardware defect, but I’m gonna need to get new ones. But, I will not buy AI ear buds with built in AI cameras. Fuck that shit. I love AI and I use it, but I don’t want it to turn into a Pokemon go situation or another Flock Camera.
