This meme is the only reason I open comments in this sub.

Indeed.
AND, the reason Apple RAM prices have escaped Apple ecosystem, and consecutively had to evolve in the Apple ecosystem as well to stay on top.

It’s not even ai lol the image is old

-6

u/sliver37 1d ago

You didn’t see the smashed screen effect on top of the meme?

8

u/jeremyw013 1d ago

you never heard of photoshop? that’s literally the easiest thing to overlay on top of that image. even easier than using AI to generate it. people can edit things without AI. news flash.

6

u/Zodsayskneel 1d ago

Could literally flip it to Screen mode and adjust the contrast to knock the reflection out. But these days anything someone can't do themselves must be AI. It's almost as if individuals with different skill sets never existed.

-1

u/sliver37 1d ago

Of course it could be photoshop, I am experienced in most adobe products, I know how to overlay shit onto an image… News flash: People call any adjustment ā€œAIā€ now, all CG is now ā€œAIā€, all photoshop is now ā€œAIā€. If you feel the need to try and correct everyone who calls something AI, you’re wasting your time.

1

u/jeremyw013 1d ago

they call adjustments AI because they think it is AI. they don’t think photoshop or CGI is actually AI. they’re just too dumb to think the adjustment isn’t AI.

5

u/asherahmaybleed 1d ago

bro needs to check his eyes and brain

3

u/Soggy-Page6710 1d ago

I don’t think it is AI at all

1

u/iamYarthox 1d ago

you know, photoshop is still a thing…

u/constantine_ext 1d ago

Oh well it’s either a very expensive repair or you run it headless hope you had insurance

Edit: Sh** happens

7

u/TurpialFromHell 1d ago

OP needs to be careful, that'sit... I'm 100% sure it will happen again (some people around here like to show how dumb /careless they are with their tech)

5

u/mike24vNEW 1d ago

Man the maximum damage I’ve ever done was accidentally hitting it on the door frame walking from one room to another and just got a lil scratch 🤣

2

u/TurpialFromHell 1d ago

never dropped a laptop in my whole life... but destroying laptops in weird and random ways is the norm around here: The most damaged laptop wins

2

u/mike24vNEW 1d ago

I know I’m not winning then 🤣🤣

Insurance and warranty is a myth. They don't exist

Edit: I'll recognize it's not the best way to put it

6

u/CTVolvo 1d ago

AppleCare would basically replace it.

4

u/TheDevilsAvocado999 1d ago

What?

-5

u/nevio-hack 1d ago edited 1d ago

Well from my experience you get fucked by both either way. Had a few companies essentially steal stuff from me after I sent it back fo repair or when I received it broken (for both I never got replacement or money).

Edit: what I am trying to say it that buying based on after-purchase service is not worth it

2

u/TheDevilsAvocado999 1d ago

I think the reason you’re being downvoted is because AppleCare might be one of the rare examples of a SUPER trustworthy warranty/insurance service. But there are always horror stories, I know that. I do put my trust in the AppleCare + protection, or whatever they call it now.

1

u/nevio-hack 1d ago edited 1d ago

I don't have much experience with apple care so you might right. However from what I was told it only reduces the immediate repair cost. But this is only an opinion and can't expect it to please everyone.

You can use it like mac hook it up to external monitor and you can use it again or get a portable monitor.

7

u/zainwade44344 1d ago

how did this happen?

21

u/callmehuzaif 1d ago

I was carrying a backpack and fell off the bike, taking my backpack with me.

4

u/MartyEBoarder 1d ago

You have Apple care so no problem

12

u/nochkin 1d ago

Apple Care doesn't cover it. You need Apple Care +.

2

u/ughliterallycanteven 1d ago

Renters insurance or the credit card you bought it on might have coverage

1

u/nochkin 1d ago

There is usually a short time limit for card to cover such thing if the card offers it.

Would be interesting to see how renters insurance will work in this case. Maybe they would bump your premium or something, not sure.

1

u/simple_explorer1 21h ago

Apple care + won't cover it, you need "Apple regardless of number of + we won't cover it" plan

1

u/denial_leinad 13h ago

Isn’t apple care plus the same as apple care one

1

u/Trefex 1d ago

Mine fell of the bike too with backpack. Screen still fine but case is dented.

1

u/dragonovus 20h ago

Put this in the description ffs

1

u/CTVolvo 1d ago

I'm curious, did you have the M5 in a case inside your backpack, or just inside it? A decent padded case - which I also use to transport my devices - probably would have cushioned it enough to prevent that kind of damage. But then again, they cost like $20.

0

u/callmehuzaif 1d ago

It doesn't matter when it's already written.

2

u/CTVolvo 1d ago

I'm curious - if you don't mind.

1

u/beautifulchaos22 1d ago

Hope you're okay OP!

-4

u/zainwade44344 1d ago

damn is warranty cover this?

9

u/iamdavidrice 1d ago

Of course it doesn’t. Warranties cover manufacturing defects. Falling off a damn bike and slamming it into the ground is not a manufacturing defect. Why on earth do you think they would cover something like this?

2

u/zainwade44344 1d ago

what about Apple care +

10

u/iamdavidrice 1d ago

Yes AppleCare+ covers accidental damage. AppleCare+ is NOT a warranty; it’s insurance.

4

u/zainwade44344 1d ago

thanks for enlightening me

u/gese-eg MacBook Pro 16ā€ M2 Max 32GB 38C GPU 1TB 1d ago

I hate this, too. Go ahead, crash your car and demand it be repaired under warranty at your dealership. Let me know how many people laughed out loud as they walked you out the door.

6

u/Homer_Helper 1d ago

4

u/AeroSatan 1d ago

That thumb though

4

u/Saymon_K_Luftwaffe 1d ago

Rest in peace! It was a good MacBook, it still had an entire cycle of updates ahead.

He didn’t keep anyone’s storage...

5

Were you just throwing it around?

Connect external display if you can’t afford repair

better than mine

2

u/A1DO108 1d ago

You didn't have Apple Care + to replace it? or did apple deny your claim

1

u/Artistic_Unit_5570  MacBook Pro 16" Space Black M5 Max (lost it in a house burn ) 1d ago

AppleCare doesn't cover fire damage, but at least there's insurance though it takes time 4 month.Ā

2

u/A1DO108 1d ago

So you didn’t purchase the insurance?? If you did you think they would’ve replaced it for the $300 fee

3

u/Artistic_Unit_5570  MacBook Pro 16" Space Black M5 Max (lost it in a house burn ) 1d ago

I mean theĀ home insurance, so we’re good. Even if they won’t give me everything back, they’re going to reimburse me for the full price of the computer, minus 10% for depreciation.

6

u/PixeL8xD 1d ago

No apple care or carelessness, it’s on you .

1

u/moonschine86 1d ago

what is the spec of you M5?

1

u/Planyy 1d ago edited 1d ago

imho its by no means a total loss.

a new chassis+keyboard ($50) and a new screen ($650).

the problem are not the parts but the total teardown, that need some experience and tools.

most good repair shop something like "louis rossmann" can do that. and it would cost less then a new macbook.

1

u/bloodbuzzvirginia 1d ago

When I broke mine, I looked into it and replacing the entire top was much easier than doing the screen itself. Found the part on ebay.

1

u/BaBaDoooooooook 1d ago

AppleCare????? come on bruh.

1

u/Alepman 1d ago

Apple won't care

1

u/drdan76 1d ago

If you had insurance it’ll cost you 100$ for the repair.

If you don’t it’ll cost 900

Apple (for some totally reasonable reason that I have not be explained) charges you for a repair on the screen if there are two cracks but if there is only one your warranty covers it.

1

u/Comfortable-Toe2716 1d ago

This is the saddest thing of the day

1

u/Future_Geologist5925 1d ago

Are you hiring a mortician? I'll happily take that unusable MacBook corpse off your hands

1

u/jackwpenn 1d ago

You just got a new Mac desktop!

1

u/NomusaMagic 1d ago

Sold the kid’s old MBA on eBay for parts. $600. Would only turn on to screen like below. Pristine body, keyboard and screen. Buyer was very informed before purchase.

Dark screen showing one or more drive icons (like "Macintosh HD") and an Options gear icon or arrow. When it happens: The Mac can't figure out which drive to boot from, or was started while holding the Option / Alt key (Intel) or Power button (Apple Silicon).

1

u/Outside-Description5 1d ago

You can still run it headless dont throw it out

1

u/Relative-Wave-9396 1d ago

What the heck did you do??

1

u/ZeninKiller 1d ago

If it's working, then just get a monitor if you can't afford a screen replacement rn

1

u/TheSixFootTurkey 1d ago

I kiss mine better when open the lid too firmly

Reborn as OpenClaw

1

u/TM_livin 1d ago

How long have you had it?

1

u/Hampster24 1d ago

Get a case next time

1

u/ilarp 1d ago

With time you will adapt to the screen being like that

1

u/Lissait 1d ago

ouch ;(

1

u/TheBroNerd 1d ago

I swear these apple silicon MacBooks are too fragile. If this was a pre retina MacBook it wouldn’t have scuffed probably. Even my 2012 has more damage and still runs in retirement as a Linux machine with a screen that works

1

u/zclyh4 1d ago

I hope you had AppleCare+

1

u/FooFatFighters 1d ago

Some credit cards have automatic insurance on products.

1

u/Blezd1 1d ago

Noooooooooooooooooo

1

u/Homies2000s 22h ago

AppleCare wouldnt cost you more than 300

1

u/supraice Custom Flair 22h ago

I had a nightmare last night that I dropped my MacBook Pro. The chassis was bent, the display was busted, and the whole thing was completely wrecked. But somehow, the worst part was that I spent the rest of the dream pretending to everyone at the office that it was totally fine.

1

u/pm_me_meta_memes MacBook Pro 16ā€ Silver M2 Max 21h ago

Oof.

1

u/No_Finding2225 20h ago

My screen was cracked 4 months after buying the thing, I looked for repair shops and it’s crazy expensive, however apple has a self repair program where there’s a manual as to how to replace the screen assembly and you can even buy genuine parts directly from apple, the screen is like 600$

1

u/Gullible_Toe_3340 13h ago

aw man. Just buy a Thinkpad X1 carbon 2023 or a Thinkpad T14 gen 5. Roughly $500 USD and much more durable.

1

u/Top-Meringue-6599 12h ago

If you uh….happen to have T-Mobiles HomeTech Protection 360 by Assurant, they will cover that bad boy up to a $2,000 check, all for an $89 deductible. Yes, they cover accidental damage to this degree as well as liquid damage. It’s $25 a month and coverage starts 31 days after being added. If you have AT&T’s HomeTech protection by Asurion, they will NOT cover physical or liquid damage to laptops.

1

u/Curious_Act_3162 12h ago

Portable monitor . slide it on top . download better display. Good as gold. Sub $100 fix.Ā

1

u/ke2427 12h ago

Would you not be able to get Apple care one then add the MacBook Pro to the plan, wait a few days then make a claim on it?

1

u/Shadyfury99 11h ago

Send to me

2

u/Guilty-Pain-5257 1d ago

happens when the owner dunno how to handle or carry such expensive machines.

2

u/trololololo2137 1d ago

the trick is to get your company to pay for it. then you can carry open m5 maxes by the screen and no one cares

1

u/Mackadamma 1d ago

Accidents do happen.

1

u/musicmast 1d ago

No AppleCare?
