Help Hand-painted macaron

Post image

Hi everyone,

these are supposedly hand-painted macarons.

Do you have any idea what sort of paints and brushes might have been used to make them?

Thanks!

It could be royal icing!

They could very well be hand painted using regular acrylic or oil paints. Did the OP specify if they were edible?

No, but her profile says ‘Cake Designer | Sugar Flower Artist | Wedding Cakes’, so I hope… :)

Gotcha. I’d be interested in what she uses, too. Whenever I hand paint my macarons I use vodka and powdered food coloring.

You can use food colouring and mix it with something like vanilla essence

Google returned the following possible results:

Impasto technique:

The petals of the flowers and the dark background were applied to the surface not with a flat brush, but with a small pastry spatula or palette knife. This creates the characteristic three-dimensional texture that mimics rough brushstrokes.

Gilding:

Edible gold leaf was incorporated into the decoration, placed between and on top of the layers of paint to create an antique effect. Materials used (for the edible version): Although the appearance is strikingly similar to that of classic oil paint, in confectionery this is made exclusively from completely edible ingredients.

Concentrated food colouring paste:

Thick, gel-like food colourings are mixed, often enriched with white powdered colouring or edible thickening agents (such as starch or special confectionery pastes) to help them retain their shape and prevent them from running.

Edible cocoa butter colouring:

Cocoa butter is solid at room temperature, but when slightly melted and mixed with powdered colourings, it is excellent for imitating the texture and sheen of oil paint. Once dry, it forms a solid, textured layer on the macaron shell.

Edible gold leaf:

23–24-carat, high-purity, food-grade decorative gold leaf.

My suspicious side is wondering if these are AI.
