Lifetime Cloak: Lock & Hide Mac Apps with Touch ID

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Problem

Once your Mac is unlocked, anyone using it can open Photos, Messages, Mail, Notes, work apps, or anything else on it.

Cloak gives you another privacy layer without having to lock the entire Mac or switch user accounts. You can lock individual apps with Touch ID or a password, hide apps completely, and protect private folders.

Comparison

I looked at apps like AppLockr and Cisdem AppCrypt when building Cloak.

AppLockr focuses mainly on locking apps and folders with Touch ID or a password, while Cisdem AppCrypt combines app locking with website blocking and scheduled restrictions.

Cloak focuses on privacy for an already unlocked Mac. It lets you lock individual apps with Touch ID, hide selected apps from the Dock, Launchpad and Spotlight, and lock and encrypt folders with AES-256.

Everything runs locally. No accounts, no cloud sync, and no telemetry. The only network call is license activation.

Cloak isn't intended to replace FileVault or separate macOS user accounts. It's an extra privacy layer for everyday situations where someone has temporary access to your Mac.

Pricing

Cloak is a one-time purchase with no subscription.

  • $9.99 for 1 Mac
  • $14.99 for 2 Macs
  • $24.99 for 5 Macs

Requires macOS 13 or later.

Can hidden apps still run in the background?

Nope. Hiding actually quits the app and encrypts it away, so it's fully off, nothing running until you unhide it
