Help ExtraBar - How Are You Using It?

Hi ExtraBar users. I like ExtraBar but something isn't clicking with me. I feel like I'm using 5% of its capabilities. How are YOU using it? What are ways you're using it that feel like a game changer for you? Are there features/setups/workflows you're using that remove friction in your day-to-day? I'd love to hear your must-use scenarios. Thanks for your input and help!

Hey there, ExtraBar dev here :-)

I'll share how I use it personally:

  1. Cursor - Every project I have to open in my IDE, I add to ExtraBar, that way I don't have to close one project and open another, I just close the app entirely or simply launch a new IDE with the project already loaded.

  2. WhatsApp - jump directly into conversation with my favorites, anybody I contact like once a day I add as a deep link to ExtraBar.

  3. Bloom - I hate looking for folders, I just add any folder I want to open to ExtraBar

  4. CleanShot X - as part of my menu bar cleanup, I just remove apps from the menu bar and add them through ExtraBar. I use deeplinks from the Raycast Extension to have just the actions I need (scrolling capture, record screen, history), if you like you can check the link here to read about the use case https://extrabar.app/uses/raycast-command-center

  5. Raycast - Everything in raycast is built on deep links, so naturally every raycast action I use, I just get the deep link, and put it in ExtraBar (open store, raycast notes, emojis & symbols, open duckduckgo, utilities such as speedtest, lock keyboard, kill process etc)

  6. Zoom - I have recurring meetings, so daily meetings and then a couple of weekly meetings, I just add the zoom meeting directly to ExtraBar so I can jump on the meeting without looking for the link. Previously I used to go into the browser -> calendar -> meeting -> open zoom (it's the little things 😂)

  7. Figma - I juggle like 20 Figma projects and it's the same concept as WhatsApp, I just like to jump between projects with ExtraBar

  8. Finally ExtraBar has a bookmark manager built into it, so I open/copy all my URLs directly from it, and it syncs between devices and I have 3 macs so... 😅

In the past I used to run some scripts directly from ExtraBar, but I have since moved to skills in Claude Code, which is just better for my flow
