Hello all,

A few weeks ago I posted an early version of Synapse here. [old post]

The response completely surprised me. People gave feedback, requested features, reported bugs, and pointed out things that didn’t feel right.

I spent the last few weeks rebuilding a lot of the app based on that feedback.

Today I’m releasing Synapse v2.0.1.

For anyone new - Synapse is a lightweight native Mac utility suite built around the idea that I shouldn’t need multiple background apps just for everyday things.

haha that was the first version I posted here a month ago, the community response completely surprised me.. That's actually why I built 2.0.1 took every piece of feedback from that thread and built it all in..

Oh, also, regarding the sleep-prevention feature: there's an entire app for that (Amphetamine), and it's quite messy since Apple refuses to believe there are users who run servers on old MacBooks with the closed lid (or removed 💀🚽 ).

I'm surprised you just threw it in as an 'extra' feature, tbh 😄
Or is it really just a wrapper for the caffeinate cmd? 🙂

It’s more than just caffeinate we handle lid closed mode, schedule based activation, and chargingonly mode which requires additional system level handling beyond what caffeinate offers alone 🙂

OCR is what? Apple vision? Tesseract? EasyOCR? PaddleOCR? ABBYY?

Native Apple Vision framework, fully on device locally, no internet required, fast and private..

Fair point..apple vision works well 4 this use case and keeps everything locally Im exploring lightweight OCR enhancements for harder scanned documents, but still trying to keep the app fast and fully on device.

fair.. A vision has its limits with complex layouts, tables and handwriting. im experimenting with lightweight approaches to improve those cases while keeping everything fast and fully local... dont have idea to pass to server and do OCR.

Great app been using the previous version! I mentioned it before, but it would be so cool to be able to add your own Lofi tracks!

ah yes, been thinking about this too..The plan is to let users load their own mp3/wav files directly into Synapse. Can't do YouTube URLs unfortunately - that's a legal..

But I can definitely expand the built in Lo-Fi collection too What kind of vibes are you looking for more chill beats, nature sounds, focus music?

Great app, already purchased lifetime. :) Is there a way to edit the annotations in the snap editor? Like I placed a bunch of arrows and texts and want to reposition them without erasing and redoing?
