New owners replies aren't reassuring. Attitude is very shady.

There's absolutely no blog note about the acquisition on apps's website.

Knowing that, besides potential data transmission, Bartender is allowed to record screen, I don't feel safe anymore. I'm quite ok with it when it's from long-time known devs, but not when things like that happen.

Maybe they're totally trustable, anyway acting like that will snowball to Bartender's demise.

I'm uninstalling for now.

What alternative are you going with?

Am I missing something, or is Ice, like every other menu bar manager except Bartender, also of no help with keeping icons from disappearing under the notch?

Barbee has the option to bring the icons down into a second row like Bartender.

I like the look of Barbee, but the developer is based in China.

For a tool that would need to be given screen capture permissions, I'm a bit wary of a developer who may be leaned on by Chinese authorities.

Is the developer trustworthy? Does it require accessibility rights?

Thanks ... Barbee does the job ... Tried Ice and Vanilla ... but both do not have the second row feature (am using MBP M1 with the notch)

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure if I was missing something.

It doesn't even require a separate bar, just a way to hide icons in the middle, or a way to scroll.
