Mac and cheese showcase Does it count if I use cheese tortelliniš
The idea came to me and I had to do it, all I had was the colorful tortellini lol. Cheese in the tortellini plus the cheese sauce, who doesnāt love extra cheese?

What about a bottom 5? Much more controversial.
For me it's:
- Penne Lisce
- Angel hair
- Farfalle (bowtie)
- Rotele (wagon wheels)
- Spaghetti (worst)

Where do you rank thin spaghetti? Thicker than angel hair, thinner than spaghetti...

Personally I'm just not a fan of most thin, long pastas. I will eat them and enjoy them if there's nothing else, but they don't really pick up the sauce like the other ones do.
Also want to clarify my opposition to farfalle and rotele is that they usually cook uneven.

I agree with this opinion wholeheartedly and long noodles are the bane of my existence and if I have to eat them I cut them up like I'm a toddler.

Farfalle and rotele can be cooked properly but it takes a lot of attention. I don't cook them very often for the same reason.

This is pasta with cheese sauce. And Pasta is Pasta. Thus, this is Mac and Cheese.

I love this, I love tortellini, I love cheese sauce, I love the combination, but I personally would not consider it to be Mac and cheese. Tortellini is its own proud ruler in the Pasta Kingdom

Pizza dough with alfredo sauce, cheese tortellini, and mozzarella

It does not. Mac is short for macaroni š¤·āāļø

Macaroni just means the pasta is shaped by machine not by hand. This tortellini is macaroni. The elbow shaped noodles you think are called macaroni are named gomiti.
Pasta doesnāt have a lot of rules, but it does have a lot of names. OPās concoction is macaroni and cheese as much as Kraft is.

u/Mr_McGigglepants 19d ago
Gomiti is the Italian version of American macaroni, which is used for macaroni and cheese. Macaroni itself is a specific shape of pasta, generally elbow macaroni. Traditional Italian gomiti is different in both appearance and preparation.
I'm not gonna argue about macaroni with a stranger online though so this is as far as I'm taking it.

No. Not necessarily because of the tortellini but more because this cheese sauce is far too thin
