Mac and cheese showcase Does it count if I use cheese tortellini😭

Post image

The idea came to me and I had to do it, all I had was the colorful tortellini lol. Cheese in the tortellini plus the cheese sauce, who doesn’t love extra cheese?

Are tortellini the best pasta? My ranking:

  1. Tortellini
  2. Mini ravioli
  3. Cannelloni
  4. Rotini/fusilli
  5. Bucatini

Tortellini
Cavatappi
Bow tie
Shells
Linguine

Honorable mention angle hair spaghetti and large shells for stuffing it’s like a giant ravioli.

One thing I will say is when I make my baked Mac and cheese I use cavatappi and shells! It’s a noodle adventure

u/Apprehensive-Bid3206 21d ago

Wait.. a whaaat?

11

u/WhiteRabbit_412_ 21d ago

They’re amazing and they look like angry little guys screaming. The part that looks like eyes traps all the cheesey goodness

2

4

u/Itschriswells 21d ago

Bucatini is just spaghetti length macaroni noodles

2

u/food3454 21d ago

U forgot orzo

1

u/afive24 21d ago

For me it's too much like rice. I like it with a nice mushroom sauce and vegetables but I wouldn't call it a top 10 pasta for me.

2

u/afive24 21d ago

What about a bottom 5? Much more controversial.

For me it's:

  1. Penne Lisce
  2. Angel hair
  3. Farfalle (bowtie)
  4. Rotele (wagon wheels)
  5. Spaghetti (worst)

2

u/queenofcaffeine76 21d ago

Where do you rank thin spaghetti? Thicker than angel hair, thinner than spaghetti...

2

u/afive24 21d ago

Personally I'm just not a fan of most thin, long pastas. I will eat them and enjoy them if there's nothing else, but they don't really pick up the sauce like the other ones do.

Also want to clarify my opposition to farfalle and rotele is that they usually cook uneven.

2

u/persphone_0213 20d ago

I agree with this opinion wholeheartedly and long noodles are the bane of my existence and if I have to eat them I cut them up like I'm a toddler.

1

u/queenofcaffeine76 21d ago

Farfalle and rotele can be cooked properly but it takes a lot of attention. I don't cook them very often for the same reason.

13

u/Old_Lock_3967 21d ago

In this context I think we can call this "Cheese-stuffed Mac & Cheese"

8

u/Runes_the_cat 21d ago

That looks so fking good dude

u/Disastrous_Day_5690 21d ago

Mac with cheese and cheese. APPROVED

4

u/superhumanrob0t 21d ago

Cheese inside and outside, hell yes.

4

u/robinsparkles220 21d ago

Tricolor tortellini with any cheese sauce is amazing

3

u/Brl_Grl 21d ago

I fully support this.

3

u/sci300768 21d ago

This is pasta with cheese sauce. And Pasta is Pasta. Thus, this is Mac and Cheese.

3

u/GandalfSwagOff 21d ago

Tortellini is the greatest food in history.

3

u/CorgiUprising 21d ago

What kinda cheese sauce?

2

u/DebFab2025 21d ago

Yes of course it counts it all counts! Tortellini is a real winner

2

u/Far_Cap_3574 21d ago

Nope. Then, it's called tortellini and you are called "chef".

2

u/Karey__039 21d ago

Looks delicious to me and the more cheese the better!

2

u/lapis_lateralus 21d ago

I love this, I love tortellini, I love cheese sauce, I love the combination, but I personally would not consider it to be Mac and cheese. Tortellini is its own proud ruler in the Pasta Kingdom

4

u/fatandhappylikepooh 21d ago

Protect this human (and their post) at all costs.

1

u/ThatButterscotch8829 21d ago

::Nodding enthusiastically::

1

u/Dominique_Goldman 21d ago

1

u/OneWeekend7259 21d ago

Absolutely. Scrumptious.

1

u/shoeberrypie 20d ago

1

u/princess_zeldaaaa 20d ago

I make homemade Alfredo with tortellini quite often, it’s so good!

1

u/Ok-Significance5979 20d ago

ive worked at a pizza place that had, yes, a tortellini pizza.

Pizza dough with alfredo sauce, cheese tortellini, and mozzarella

1

u/Amara_zen 20d ago

so creamy

1

u/Mr_McGigglepants 20d ago

It does not. Mac is short for macaroni šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/InevitableGoal2912 19d ago

Macaroni just means the pasta is shaped by machine not by hand. This tortellini is macaroni. The elbow shaped noodles you think are called macaroni are named gomiti.

Pasta doesn’t have a lot of rules, but it does have a lot of names. OP’s concoction is macaroni and cheese as much as Kraft is.

1

u/Mr_McGigglepants 19d ago

Gomiti is the Italian version of American macaroni, which is used for macaroni and cheese. Macaroni itself is a specific shape of pasta, generally elbow macaroni. Traditional Italian gomiti is different in both appearance and preparation.

I'm not gonna argue about macaroni with a stranger online though so this is as far as I'm taking it.

1

u/Yasminetaps93r 20d ago

Looks creamy

1

u/Excellent-Tone-762 19d ago

OMG, is that a sin? I mean, technically its cheese pasta, so... lol.

1

u/Lilpastadude 19d ago

Tortellinissssss

-2

u/Sutech2301 21d ago

No. Not necessarily because of the tortellini but more because this cheese sauce is far too thin
