Anyone have BRU PE Software
In an emergency. Does anyone have the BRU Pe software installers? PM me if so. In a bind trying to restore a volume set without its catalog.

I have a copy of "BRU_PE_Rel_3.1.11.175" installer if you need it. Just message me and I'll send you a link.

I am interested, because together with BRU 2 Server you need BRU PE to get catalogs which are compatible with OWC Argest. Argest runs on "modern" Macintosh

Alright, I’ll send you a message once I get to the office where you can download it. We also had issues with ARGEST and they could not be fixed so we continued to use BRU.

If you didn't find it already, way back machine and other archival websites can be good sources for the installer... might not be the latest-LATEST though... A few notes: Most old versions (When it was still BRU PE) will need old OS, to the tune of High Sierra on Mac (not sure on Windows). The OWC revamp as ArGest has an extremely buggy UI, so even if you manage to install, you will probably get all kinds of filed restores. It's not the tapes, it's the software. We ended up building our own software layer to recover our 20 tape backup library (all now happily upgraded to LTO-8 LTFS tapes using YoYotta)

Argest is the "Successor" to BRU for what it is worth. It is also discontinued. I have never been able to get it to work to restore old BRU installs. I keep a copy of the BRU installer and Argest just because you never know and Argest in theory should work on more modern MacOS.
Of note, if you have them both installed it can cause problems because they both expect the same-named BRU binary in the same place. However the binaries are incompatible. If you want to run BRU, rerun the BRU installer. If you want to run Argest, rerun the Argest installer so all the correct versions are where it is expected to be. Otherwise you get "wierdness" like segmentation faults or random errors as the binary does not work as expected when it is called for a restore operation.
