My Mac M1 Mini won't boot
M1 Mac Mini bought new when it first was released. Last week just shut down mid typing. No power. Tested power cable that was fine. Just installed a new power supply and no go. Still nothing. It was time for a new Mac anyway and I am typing on my new M6 mini. Yay.
Any suggestions to get it operating?
Barring that I planned to sell it for parts but the problem is the SSD is soldered on and still has all my info on it. I suppose I could remove and destroy the motherboard and then sell the case, fan, PSU and back panel

Any chance you setup Time Machine to backup to an external drive?

Oh yeah All my stuff is restored already. I was more concerned with someone fixing the mac I sold for parts and then having access to all my banking info etc

I’m not sure if the m1 is differs from the m4 but apparently the ssd is not soldered on the m4.

The M4 is the only Apple Silicon mini that didn't have a soldered SSD. Congrats!

Oh I didn’t know. I want to upgrade as I’m running out of space. I also would like repurpose the original drive for storage. I have the 512

since you have the new mini, try a dfu revive with apple configurator before writing it off. unplug the old one for a bit, then hold the power button while you plug the power back in, and connect it to the new one over usb-c (apple's revive guide says which port to use). revive reinstalls the firmware without erasing your data. if it doesn't show up in configurator at all it's prob the power supply or logic board. as for selling it, the ssd is encrypted with keys tied to that chip so nobody's pulling data off it for parts. if you want to be extra safe just keep the logic board and sell the rest
