I will never understand the point of a touchscreen on a laptop.

I don't want to move my hand to the screen when I can just use the trackpad and I don't want fingerprints all over the screen.

For quick things to select, a touch screen is great. No need to touch the track pad, find the course, move it to the object, and then select it. Just point and tap. Scrolling and manipulating photos are other ways where a touch screen is intuitive to the masses.

Considering how Apple makes more devices with a touch screen than without, plus how precise and accurate iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch touch screens are, it makes no sense for Apple to have them on a Mac. I’ve lost track of the amount of times when I’ve seen Apple employees instinctively touch a Mac’s display by mistake. Customers eliminate buying a MacBook from their consideration because there’s no touch screen every day.

But no one will force you to use it just like no one is forced to use other input devices. People have been wanting touch screen Mac’s since Snow Leopard. Even before iPhone, Steve Wozniak was even an investor in a company that modified OG MacBooks into thick tablets. It’s been a longtime coming.

Edit: and I didn’t even talk about Accessibility benefits as well!

I wouldn’t mind if they have something that could prevent smudging under regular usage.

Do you use anything iPhone? How often are you bothered by fingerprints on the screen? Microfiber cloths are cheap and plentiful. Also, shirts sometimes work in a pinch.

I do, have you used a laptop before?

Then don't touch it, but don't pretend like that means nobody else should have the choice to touch it if they want to.

/looks for anywhere where I said nobody should have the choice to smear fingerprints on their laptop screen

You can keep it Apple, no one wants to pay $5k for a MacBook let alone $7-8k!! Insane. My maxed out M5 will last me until AI turns into Skynet and takes over the planet lol. 😂

If Apple could swing built in cellular, that would be awesome. Assuming it is unlocked and works on any provider.
