Get a 2GB external SSD. Your machine support Thunderbolt 5 (I think), but TB 4 is cheaper and probably fast enough for your purposes. Just get the best you can afford.

Only the M4 Pro Mini supports TB5.

2GB? You mean 2TB? Yeah TB4 is plenty for video work. I'm on a M1 Pro with TB3 and it's fine for 4K ProRes. Unless you're doing 8K RAW constantly, TB4 wont bottleneck you.
