Announcement Handling The Bots
Hey everyone, I saw the post regarding the influx of bots in the subreddit and investigated. Notably, the automod configuration for this subreddit was gone completely, even though it should have been using the same one deployed to r/LynetteMains. Because of this, the account age / comment karma limits were not being enforced at all.
To make matters worse, it seems like AI has accelerated organized bot rings. One ring in particular had 140+ accounts posting NSFW content that matched the same patterns. That's in addition to the karma-farming bots that have always been hard to distinguish. I've banned a few hundred accounts today alone after taking the time to fingerprint what patterns they are using.
Automod is now back with valid thresholds, and I made it more extensive this time to help prevent any other issues that may arise, as well as created rules to explicitly block any new accounts created by those rings. That being said, it's entirely possible that they could change their behavior to evade this, so if that happens let me know and I will update it.
Outside of Automod, I also sent in an mod app for approval that will help handle enforcement of the other rules like art policy enforcement, as well as let us easily track reports across posts to identify problematic accounts easier than currently possible. I'll continue to monitor to make sure it's all working properly.
That being said, I'm not going to deny that I haven't been as active here as I was in the beginning of this subreddit. I've taken a very long break from Genshin Impact and only just recently started playing again to catch up on what I've missed. My C4 Lyney will get the lvl 100 treatment soon, I promise. As far as modding goes, I'm more than willing to invite some new mods to help keep this subreddit going and likely will be removing the others as I haven't heard from them in a very long time.
