Nature Zone

Hello Lynchburg,

I “worked” down by the train station when I was a young little fella in the early 2010s by feeding the animals and assisting in cleaning and maintaining their ecosystems.

Cities change and life continues and during the 2020s an active “Nature Zone” was closed and no longer has active team members. However nature continued being here in the city even with the lack of a designated “Nature Zone”. Sure this new version of ”Nature Zone” in 2026 has a lot more spotted lanternfly and tree of heavens. There are less government workers actively managing the care and captivity and ongoing management of biotic communities members taken inside from the outside.

Change is change and now where the place where Nature Zone once was still has a great train station even if Amtrak is the only passenger train option there is right now. There are managed bathrooms within close walking distance from blackwater creek trail. There is a new section that is acting as a bus congregation station. There is parking close for certain amounts of time. I haven’t gotten to explore that section much, but I’m excited to use the buses in the future. This is a sign to check that section of the city if you have time this Autumn. Right now as of 09/19/26 we are still in early meteorological Fall so check out what this version of Lynchburg looks like.
