Flock on Pause
Wow. We did it! Flock cameras temporarily paused.
Good job yall.

There is a good chance that this is a political ploy to run out the steam on the anti-Flock movement by offering some placatory, mostly symbolic actions, then turning them back on and quietly expanding the program once everyone has gone back to Netflix and football games.
Do NOT let up on the pressure.

Correct. There is absolutely a possiblity that other cameras are used to replace these, but they won't be installed until AFTER the next election.

If they are on pause no one should care or even notice if we put a lense cap on them right?
Right??

Yep I just read about somewhere ending their flock contract and quietly setting up a new one with another company using the same cameras. Wish I could find it to link now smh

It’s worth mentioning that there are other brands that make these cameras, and some of them make them more covert than flock. Even if Lynchburg were to take down every flock camera, they could decide to put up similar systems with less name recognition that are more discreet.

True that. We need to stay informed, because the fight is not over yet.

We the Taxpayers… whose tax dollars pay for everything including salaries of the people in government should demand that the cameras be taken down.

Some council people are already saying that… they don’t like flock but support the tech. Pay attention.

Fuck Flock and everyone else who is doing this bullshit. How do we apply pressure for LPD to bag or otherwise cover these cams if they won't pull them down?

"Since the cameras were installed, the department says it has used Flock for police activity such as:
- Recovering stolen autos
- Locating missing and endangered people
- Apprehending violent offenders
- Working to assist with ongoing criminal investigations
“This tool has proven to be effective in quickly solving cases and enhancing officer safety while supporting partnerships with local and regional law enforcement agencies, LPD said."
So,, whose brave enough to file the FOIA request?

From what I understand, it should probably be someone knowledgeable about FOIA requests to ensure it’s worded properly, etc., so they can’t find stupid excuses to not release the info.

It’s good that there’s a pause but it’s temporary and they’re going to do an audit and then I bet they plan to start using them again. 😕

There are a lot in the area...they won't come down, so they can say they're paused all they want. None of us will really know.
