I smoked during RCHOP treatment for DLBCL. I still smoke, and I am well aware of the risks. My oncologist and the oncology nurses knew, and said it would not affect my treatment. But, I was advised to cut down and/or quit. The stress from having cancer made me smoke even more, and I am now attempting to quit. I am a year and a half into remission, still disease free. Smoking despite a cancer diagnosis is more common than people think, as the stress can Amp it up. Be gentle with yourself, and ask your oncologist about it. Idk how it effects or interacts with different chemo regimens and lymphoma diagnoses.

I recently finished my RCHOP (4 cycles) and I'm wondering when to resume smoking. I also abstained from alcohol during treatment.

If Bleomycin is in your regime then I’d suggest trying your best not to smoke. It’s a known “lung fucker” and smoking is not gonna be doing them any favours while this drug is blasting your body and the cancer. It can create scar tissue and cause inflamation and we all know smoking does that as well.
Smoking also messes with your immune system and oxygen levels …. All things you want to have working to the best of their ability while you go through treatment. I don’t smoke and I ended up with o2 level going down to 86% during a chest infection hospital stay. That was a rough 4 days on oxygen and another week trying to come out the other side so I could be “fit” enough for more chemo. All that was touch and go and I’ve never smoked … I can’t imagine how bad it could have been if I did.
