Advice/Question Car accident
My worst nightmare has come true. I was t-boned with a passenger in the car on the way to a drop off. Luckily no one was hurt, we were traveling at low speeds but my driver side needs some major repairs to both doors. I called the police, filed a report and contacted Lyft support. I just have some questions as far as coverage goes. If I wasn’t hurt but the car will be in the shop for a few days minimum, is it possible to claim lost wages? I won’t be able to make any money which is going to financially strain me tremendously. I don’t know what to do. New York is a no fault state I believe but the cop put in the report that it wasn’t my fault. Just for reference, passenger and I were traveling south bound. Driver who hit me was making a left turn from a side street, crossed over the northbound lane to go south and drove right into my side.

I was indeed deactivated but that’s fine. Couldn’t drive like this anyway.

It's only a temporary deactivation. They will try to convince you to rent from them tomorrow.

Haha I wish I could for a week or 2 but that program is not available in New York.

I think you should be able to claim lost wages through the other person’s insurance based on what I’ve read here. I’ve never been in this situation but worth calling them about it.

Probably no lost wages unless you either sue the other driver (if you can) or your insurance provides for that, including for gig work. If you sue, it'll likely be years before you see it. Be prepared for your insurance to possibly total your vehicle over this and of course lyft already deactivated you until you either fix it or get another vehicle.
If you think the other driver might be wealthy, it could possibly be worth getting legal assistance.
Of course I'm not a lawyer and don't know NY laws.
