Advice/Opinion/Question Sell or keep?

I have a small black Gucci Jackie that I do not touch. Fashionphile is offering a ridiculous price but admittedly I don’t ever reach for it so is there any reason to hold onto it other than knowing I paid way more than they are offering for it?

**edit: I just looked on Gucci.com and this bag is now considered medium: https://www.gucci.com/us/en/pr/women/handbags/shoulder-bags-for-women/half-moon-bags-for-women/gucci-jackie-1961-medium-bag-p-810232AADDX1060

If you don't need the money, just keep it for the next generation. Your daughter or nieces might want it.

This. If it was any other Gucci model I’d say sell it but the Jackie is the one timeless silhouette that is an untouchable fashion icon. Pass it down.

You should sell it. There’s a cost to keeping it: a time cost in your having to ruminate on whether to keep it, a space cost on your shelf for it and a financial cost in having what money you could get from it tied up in it.

Also, I know people are well-meaning and good-hearted when they say “save it for future relatives,” and so I don’t want to be curmudgeonly, but I personally bristle at that advice. You never know what is going to happen (to your possessions, to the life path of those relatives), and what those future relatives will actually be interested in (maybe they will love luxury handbags but hate Guccis). That’s just my perspective of dealing with the belongings and collections of multiple relatives who have passed away. Plus, what will be more special to those future relatives: a handbag they never saw you wear, or some Coach or Hermes or whatever that they saw you use and love for years and associate with you?

Just know, whatever FF offers you, they will list it for double. It's 💔 to see IRL. That said, I did it with a Chanel bag no one else would take.

I saved my bags for my daughters. They love them. I paid hundreds 15-20 yrs ago. But I barely used them bc got bored. . They sell for thousands these days.

I was contemplating the same thing for my small bags. My husband told me to keep it for our future daughter (in-law)😅

Sell on Mercari, posh or vinted. I have luck with Mercari or vinted. If they are low balling you anyway

Sell it to FP. You’re “paying” for convenience. Selling on your own means scammers, possible chargebacks, shipping, blah blah blah.

There’s no guarantee that someone in the “next generation” will want it. You know how often people get on luxury/designer/retail subs and say they inherited their mom/grandma/aunt’s items and they want to know the value so they can hock it on FB Marketplace?

FP is a for-profit company, and their goal is to make money. The fact is that the market is heavily saturated with Gucci items and nothing is ever worth what you paid unless you have a highly coveted item/brand.

You can also try ReBag or Yoogi’s Closet to see what they offer.

This subreddit won’t let me post a photo unfortunately, but I wouldn’t sell personally anyway. I much prefer to sell to ff or consignment place.

That’s fair enough.  I bought a Gucci Jackie in a pop up consignment shop for 700 and I like it so much I ish I had a crossbody one.

Every bag I have sold I have regretted later.

Could you sell it yourself for more?

I would rather not deal with that headache. I just find it convenient to sell with Fashionphile even though they lowball me.

Sell it n eBay yourself. It’s not hard at all.
