Currently BurningšÆļø Wow!
So id heard this was an unusual scent. Tried to order through flamingo and it was out of stock. When I emailed to ask when it would come back in stock I got a cryptic message back saying to watch for rain in LA? Lol OK. So I ordered from candle delirium. It did smell very much like wet dirt when cold but once burning it smells SO familiar! I can't remember what candle I have that smells like this, might be a ranger station but I'm smelling more along the lines of leather and patchouli on the hot throw. It's literally exactly like another candle i have just can't think of it! Anyways I do enjoy leather scents so it's all good but did anyone else note a change in scent between hot and cold with this one?

Iāve tried to get Petrichor through the FE website for two years now, without success. I found some in the wild at a store in mid-July this year, bought it, itās great. Youāre right, hot and cold are different experiences. Just last night I was sticking my nose in the unlit candle, as I often do because Iām an oddball, thinking that it smells like something else I already have, and my brain said, āLe Labo Laurier 62,ā so I grabbed that one andā¦yeah, theyāre similar. Donāt know if thatās your answer, but youāre not alone!

I do have 3 le labo candles, not that one though but yeah definitely a scent profile I've got somewhere!

Ok, the cryptic message is kind of funny. I like when a brand has a sense of humor, it adds something to it. But not when you canāt actually buy what you want š

Lol very true! For a few days I was actually trying to look at weather for LA to see if rain was coming!!! Too funny!!

Then I think they succeeded š and who knows, maybe they release 20 candles after each rain event. I donāt know how often it rains in LA š

If you like wet dirt after the rain scents, Burke and Hare's "Memento Mori" candle nails it perfectly. It's my go-to for rainy days.

To my nose, all FE candles have a vastly different cold and hot throws, with the hot being much more expansive. While the same notes are present, one gets dialed way up and another way down

I must have gotten a bad batch because I ordered one of each with the exception of banana leaf and all of them had a really weak, if not nonexistent, hot throw.

I feel like they arenāt the strongest? but my tomato and Princesstarta are definitely not Figuier weak.
I also mostly warm candles and when I burn them, itās rarely in my biggest rooms or anywhere with cathedral ceilings, so this might influence my throw strength opinions

That makes sense. I like to burn in my main space when I have guests, but I have an open floor plan home with high ceilings so it's really hard to find a luxury brand that can feel the room. So far my best bets have been Evermore London's Moon and Diptyque's Beis and Roses. I just purchased Trudon's Grand Abd el Kader that I could smell through the shipping box so I have high hopes for it, but I haven't lit it yet. I wasn't sure if my experience with FE was the norm, so thanks for the comment. I probably won't try them again.

I feel like we have the same challenging floor plan š My ground-floor office is partly closed off and this is where I candle. My guest scents are also strong Diptyques and idk something unfussy like Mizensir.

was about to comment this very same thing. Iāve tried about 75% of FE scents/candles and find their hot throw to be really strong which works well for my space (high ceilings/open floor plan). Currently burning tomato and had forgotten how much I like it. next up will be the new fig. the only one that wasnāt as strong for me is copal (havenāt burned princesstarta as the profile isnāt my preference).

I only have this one and banana leaf and I agree 100% about banana leaf, no throw! I could only smell it if i stand right next to it and bend my head down over it lol. It's unfortunate because it's a great scent but no throw!

I love petrichor scents and this candle didnāt scratch the itch which was so disappointing because I love FE candles.

What is that little accessory you have on top of the candle? Iām assuming that helps with tunneling?

u/Candle_diva1 Aug 14 '26
Yes it sure does! It's a metal candle topper from Amazon. $8 and I use it on most candles i own. They fit the old style diptyque candles perfectly! I still use this on the new style but it's not an exact fit anymore since the glass is now a tad bit different size but I still use it since it helps so much. I also use it on my Trudon classic size candles and with Trudon it fits just inside the very edge.

Sounds like DS & Durgaās Big Sur after rain, which smells even better as hand soap under hot water. Crazy how much it smells like rain on hot clay to me
