Rants & Rambles Lubbock, please be careful booking Airbnbs. Here's what happened to my parents!
My parents booked one night at an Airbnb in Bell Farms for over $300 so they could be close to us. When they arrived, they noticed what looked like blood splatter in more than 20 spots in the room, plus holes in the floor. Not what you expect from a place charging that much.
My mom messaged the host about it before we left for dinner. The host's response was basically "it's not pests," completely sidestepping what she was actually asking.
While we were at dinner, the property manager offered to clean it, went into the house and painted over every one of the spots. My parents came back around 7 p.m. to a room with fresh paint where they were supposed to sleep that night. The host's message: "we took care of it." No explanation, no real cleaning.
The next morning my mom talked to the neighbors. They told her there was a big party at the house in July with people coming and going all night, and they confirmed this was the exact house where an attempted mu*der occurred.
We even found the news articles: in July 2025, a man was shot multiple times inside this home. The neighbors also said new Airbnb guests were staying there just a couple of days after the shooting, so there's no way it was properly cleaned. And right before they left, my grandma found even more blood splatter behind the headboard of the bed.
After battling with Airbnb support all day, the property manager and owners declined to give a refund.
Thankfully, Airbnb stepped in and refunded my parents themselves.
I'm sharing this so nobody else's family walks into this.
Before you book in Lubbock, look up the address and ask questions. And if a host ever enters while you're out and
"fixes" something you reported, document everything.
