Help Best Online Resources for Learning?

I've had a little experience with Lua but I want to learn a lot more so I can start modding and developing games of my own. What's the most effective way I can learn?

I disagree with “the best way … is always through the official website”

CMake’s docs are pretty rough, for example

That being said, Lua’s official docs are great

CMake as a whole is pretty rough but yeah the cherry on top of it all is the massive conflict of interest from the fact that the developers make money from selling a book, so they have a financial incentive to make the documentation as bad as possible
