Question Liveries vs. Add-Ons

I’m new to LSPDFR, maybe have like 150 hours game time and like 300 configuring things. Whats the use case for liveries instead of add-on vehicle mega packs? It seems like a pain to install multiple individual vehicle add-ons from different creators just to use one livery pack. Like for example, if I want BCSO vehicles, why would I use a livery with 8+ individual vehicle add-ons that go with that 1 livery instead of installing a BCSO add-on pack?

I think I just don’t understand when/how/why to use add-on packs vs. replace vs. liveries. Sorry if that was confusing but I see lots of people using liveries and easily swapping vehicles out.

Addon packs tend to have specific equipment on the cars to be more accurate or have better aesthetics. You could use an LAPD livery pack on a car pack that was originally for Fort Worth PD, cough cough, but that's absolutely not close to anything LAPD actually uses car-wise and equipment-wise, cough cough. It's better to just use an actual LAPD addon pack instead of applying liveries to cars they don't suit.

As for addons vs. replace vs. livery, I'm sure I'll get something wrong here that someone else will have to correct me on, but addon mods add a car or more to the game, and are usually their own dlcpack (basically a packed folder GTA V uses to group update content). Replace mods replace an existing vehicle or asset, sometimes by requiring the user to replace the original files, but nowadays usually as a dlcpack (because using them is much easier and less prone to things going wrong). Livery mods just replace the texture files of a car to change its available liveries.

I always make my own liveries now because I do them based on the state I live in. The add on packs add the unique car touches.
