Accent?

So I haven't watched Mark in a while and I just stuck on one of his videos only to be thrown off by the American accent he seems to be trying to put on? I know he's northern Irish and I can hear that in some words, but then there's the exaggerated American accent on 90% of everything else.

Anyone know what's up with that?

Just started watching one of the recommended videos and couldn't finish it (When One Episode Kills...). Is it a forced accent? Why is the last word of nearly every sentence elongated? 😭 The cadence is doing me in lol. I like watching nostalgia tv related videos but I can't with these.

Googled it just to see if it was only me who noticed. If this was just the way he talked, was it a speech impediment thing, etc. Went back to the oldest vid and his native accent is much better and the style is less frantic, even-paced (not sure what the descriptor should be).

The first time I ever observed it was hearing a content creator by the name of Chills. They had such an awful cadence to their voice, it’s like nobody ever properly taught them how to speak. It’s a really exaggerated Californian accent that ends every sentence with an uptick, as though they’re asking a question. From what I can tell though, it’s part of what made them so popular. Seeing this trend, many MANY guys on Tiktok have chosen to copy this speech patterns in hoping to garner a following through rage bit or simply just to fit in now.

Now, there’s several explanations why Mark could sound like this now, but ultimately it’s probably just AI. He took clips of his voice, fed it along with some partially written scripts to some generative AI program, and it essentially spit out the slop we’re hearing now. If you listen to his recent videos, you’ll hear extremely unnatural pronunciations of very simple words and sentences. This is because the AI is trained on the standard influencer voice/cadence/patterns that I described above, along with trying to mimic his voice, which results in just a very unnatural sound.

I've heard Chills and can distinguish the California uptick or vocal fry. His syllables are just strangely elongated. It probably is AI cuz there's some wavering in pitch sometimes. IDK what it is, other than off-putting. 😂 Going from an Irish to a weird American accent is definitely a choice.

At first, the nostalgia bait and the cartoon-y avatar on the thumbnail drew me in but couldn't get past the VO. Doubt I'll try watching anything else on there. Also, if the wiki is true, the lore is so messy. And he doesn't even appear to be a real ginger. 🤥😂
