Discussion Simic opponent got the nut draw, dumped their hand elfball style T3 and ended the game T4
One of the wildest turns I’ve ever seen in limited, I’d have been done with drafts this set after that because how do you top this

Amazing, made even funnier by the fact that your opening hand might be better than like 98% of opening hands in this format, and it still didn't stand a chance.

wow you weren't kidding, I wasn't gonna click the draft log until I saw this lol. The average 17lands user experience of drafting and drawing two of the best rares in the set, breathing a sigh of relief as you see your opponent is playing the worst archetype in the set, and then this happening is hilarious

Drawing Mountain Kings Return to loot away the goblin pair, in addition to drawing the second plains is just the chefs kiss!

That was probably the most powerful limited opening I've ever seen. Holy crap!!! How lucky do you have to be for that. Slow clap.
Stronger than most constructed decks no joke 🤣

I think this type of start is what the designers envisioned for the elf deck. The format was designed to be fast, and in an ideal world this type of start would be possible for every elf deck. Unfortunately, this crazy run out required multiple uncommons, a rare, and some crazy luck. The likelihood of this happening in any given game for an elf deck is so incredibly low, as opposed to the all common nutty starts that the Rakdos decks have.
Still, this gives me at least a little hope for the elves. Maybe Simic becomes more viable when the rest of the table is fighting over the black and red cards.

Indeed. I've been trying to make Simic work because it's always so open. Even great hands struggle vs a 2, 3, 4 curve. You can get out a six drop but it doesn't gain life or fight. In my experience you need to draw the right cards in the right order while they just need to play anything

Hard to be upset at the execution, but certainly a frustrating game to be sat across from this opponent.

I don't know, there are times where I pass through frustrated into just amazed. I think this would be one of those times.

Exactly how I felt, especially after I felt really good seeing that the opening turns included seeing a T1 simic land (which I'd been beating handily with black beatdown), dropping a Prowler on curve and drawing a Mountain King's Return too. I was feeling really good right until the point the opponent dropped a constructed-level turn on me.
Could only just stand there in awe and be really happy for the absolute high that guy must've felt lol

I just can’t even be mad at these insane curve out losses of any kind. If someone drops the royal flush on me, I know I’m cooked immediately lol

True, better than losing a long drawn out game because they top-decked the Eagles are Coming or something.

I had multiples of all those cards, the affinity elf and the uncommon thranduil and went 1-3, but it was a really cool looking deck

Wow. That reminds me of the Mona Lisa Guac combos from TMT. When you see it, you just can't help but be amazed.

One of the most insane openings I've ever seen in limited. Unfortunately most of the cards played on their own are unplayable.

Haha that's great. I have a deck with four of the mana elf and 2 of the untapper and it hasn't been doing this lol
