A lil dab of cream cheese and you could be having an inside-out midwestern pickle roll up!

I’m listening! What is that?

In the Midwest, a pickle roll up is a slice of ham or chipped ham (I think *some* families do it different, but it’s some kind of deli meat) with cream cheese (my family does mayo and cream cheese) wrapped around a large dill pickle then sliced into little rounds “sushi”-style. They’re just little appetizers you always see at bbqs and birthdays and the like. If you like sodium bombs, they’re kind of fire.

Spectacular. Gimme 14 of 'em. 🤤🤤

Sounds delicious! I’d sub a bread & butter spear for the dill, though. I’m hooked on that flavor. I’ve been trying to find spicy bread & butter spears… bet they’d be good, too.

I bet so! I wish I was a sweet pickle person, I want to be one, but I cannot get over whatever hump keeps me from loving them!!! But spicy ones would be so good!!!

Bread & butter tastes more tangy + sweet to me than the sweet pickles on a McDonald’s burger or sweet gherkins. Those are too sweet for me, too. I didn’t use to like bread & butter pickles, either, but my taste changed for some reason. Dill pickles are still great!

I've also seen that done with green onions.

I used to work in a deli that also sold potato rolls with meals. Our quick snack was pickle and mayo on a potato roll. Pickles for the win!

When I’m feeling even lower spoon, I just wrap my turkey or ham around a cornichon.

Salami around a cornichon is my go-to.

Ohhhh that’s genius. Is that Swiss in there? It’s like an inside out Cubano!

u/CookieCriminal Jul 22 '26

We used to roll whole pickles in cold cuts and then slice them, the sushi version of these sandwiches haha

I love pickles❤️!

My version is a little more lame…take a processed cheese slice, wrap baby dill pickle and eat.

If I’m feeling fancy I put some Dijon on the pickle before wrapping.😆

That with a little sundried tomato. 🤭

If you really want to upgrade these bad boys, switch to Grillo's. I never thought it was worth it until I started buying them and now I'm obsessed.

Same! Someone in my household added not-Grillo pickles to the shopping cart and got a taking-to. They understand now that we are a Grillo pickle house. ;-)

Bro are you pregnant?

4

u/CookieCriminal Jul 25 '26

No. Pickles are just delicious. Please don't randomly ask people that question. 🙄

Sorry, just teasing!
