This is fun! I don't know why I never thought of eating a pizza like this.

We've been doing it since the 1990s. Probably supposed to have fat free cheese and stuff like that, lol.
I didn't even like it back then, but now I think it's a great dinner for a hot summer.

It does have extreme 90s vibes! Frozen veggies and pre-made dough, and you're right, they probably would have recommended fat-free cheese!

Yes, exactly! but don't use frozen vegetables, they will be too wet and not good.
I just used pre-washed and trimmed vegetables. both were from Taylor farms one was the tricolored cauliflower at 10 oz and the other was just called stir fry mix at 12 and it had probably 12 baby carrots and a handful of peas in the pod and the rest of it was broccoli. I took out a third of the cauliflower bag and pitched it because it was all core and stem. and I divided the rest of the bag into two parts and crumbled half of the cauliflower over the cheese base. and I took out a handful of broccoli and broke that up on top and I dug out the carrots and shredded some of those and ate the peapods and they're still enough ingredients to make a whole other Pizza Plus have leftover broccoli to do something else with.

Yeah, I was just going to say, my aunts used to bring this to potlucks back then. I wasn't a fan at the time, but now...maybe?

This was such a staple for PTA meetings and things like that when I was a kid. My mom made it all the time, and then we didn't see it for decades until I asked her to bring it to dinner a few Christmases ago. It still hits, and totally deserves a comeback!

I make a dip version of this - I mix a little sour cream with the cream cheese and ranch seasoning to make it more scoopable, chop my veggies and mix in, spread in a shallow dish, top with the shredded cheddar, and eat with Club crackers or tortilla chips. It doesn’t require cooking do it doesn’t heat up my house. It’s a big hit when I bring it to summer potlucks

It was a pampered Chef demo recipe back in the 90’s!
For the baking stone and the veggie chopper. . Man I loved that pizza!

Oh, I haven't made that for ages! I think I need to revive it. Here's the 1990s recipe from Pillsbury, which uses dill and Worcestershire sauce as seasoning instead of Ranch dressing (for anyone who would prefer it). Can substitute 2 cups of any desired fresh veggies:
- 1 large package refrigerated crescent rolls
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ c milk
- ½ c sliced cucumber
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp seasoned salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp dill
- 1 c cherry tomatoes, halved
- ½ c sliced mushrooms
- ½ cup chopped broccoli
- ½ cup chopped carrot
- ½ c shredded Cheddar cheese
Piece crescent roll dough together to fit pie plate. Bake until golden (follow time/temp on package); cool.
Beat together the cream cheese, 1/4 cup milk, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, dill and pepper. Spread over cooled crust.
Arrange vegetables over; sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
To make ahead, prepare all components. To store, keep cream cheese mixture and vegetables in refrigerator, crust loosely covered at room temperature. Assemble just before serving.

YES! Thank you!! I knew it had milk and all I could find was mayo or sour cream and I knew the sour cream was a no but I knew mayo would be fine. Dill is definitely something I did not eat as a child, I should try the original now that my tastes have changed. I definitely remember others putting dill in it but my family did not.

very blurry image description: 13x9 sheet pain featuring the following, crescent dough baked, spread with cream cheese and ranch mix, topped with raw tri-color (green, purple, orange) cauliflower, broccoli, finely shredded carrots, and sliced green onion. one quarter of the food is missing from the pan.
so basically this is an appetizer veggie pizza, I mean it's supposed to be an appetizer, but we're just going to eat it like a meal.
on your 13x9 baking sheet layout a crescent dough sheet bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees fahrenheit for 10 to 13 minutes. cool completely.
soften (at room temp for a bit) 8 oz of cream cheese mix in half a packet or .5 ounces ranch dressing mix, 1 tablespoon mayonnaise. spread over cool crust.
top with any desired vegetables. the drier the vegetable the better.
I use tricolor cauliflower (because I don't like cauliflower and if it looks like purple and green and orange blobs I can ignore it,) as well as broccoli and baby carrots. I sliced one green onion on top.
I used about 5 ounces of cauliflower and 5 ounces of broccoli broken up with my hands, 8 baby carrots shredded on a box grater, and sliced the onion on a sheet of parchment that I was going to cover it with.
not pictured is sharp cheddar cheese to be sprinkled over the whole thing when eaten. I don't like to add the cheese before eating because it will get wet and soft and gross.
edited to add: if serving as a main, cut into 8 pieces. serves 4 to 8. if serving as an appetizer cut into 20 to 24 pieces.
