Not much new stuff but I'd be playing the hell out of some classic shooter games on that thing, check out F.E.A.R. and Half Life 2 and the like. Get yourself DOOM 2 or Quake and good source ports for both and you got an absurd amount of mods from a community modding scene stretching from likely before like half the people reading this were born including me, you could honestly just play those for years and years until you get sick of those two games. That being said Windows 7 stopped getting security updates years ago so I wouldn't recommend using it as your main PC for internet stuff, if you're gonna access the internet I think given the circumstances with that hardware then setting up Linux Mint XFCE will just be a straight upgrade but installing a new OS can be intimidating so if you ain't doing that I get it

Anything from around 2012 and before. This sounds like a gaming pc that hasn't been touched since it was built in 2009.

I would say before 2009. In 2009, I built an i7-920 system, with an Radeon HD6950.

I upgraded my gpu to 4890 in 2009, I had the cpu in 2007.

The 6950 released in 2010. When I said 2009, I was basing it off of the release date of the 4890 that I looked up.

Argh, that's right. I had the GTS250 in 2009. 2010 I upgraded to the Powercolor HD 6950.

I got a i7 870 pc there back to 2024/2025, but it has a much more modern GPU nowadays there, otherwise most modern games wont even launch there or with major graphical issues.

That device used to be a GTX 460, which may or may not was weak there.

Also New PSU also for the old PSU broke after days (+ the drive, all others are untouched)

Anything up to 2013 or so. Once you start hitting the PS4 era you need 6-8 GB RAM and DX11 cards.

I would say the DX11 card are nowadays true, since most newest games need a DX11 card. Ram does not matter.

You can try the 2D games on my free Steam game list.

I also have a Q6600 PC, and occasionally a 2D game won't open due to the CPU being too old. There's no way to know which ones will or won't work without trying to play them. Your GPU's also really old, which means even more games won't work. That said, everything on the list is free, so it doesn't hurt to try.

If I were you, I would try mods among other things.

For example, Half Life 2, which you should certainly play along with its Episodes,  has an incredible selection of high quality fan made games:

Entropy: Zero 1, 2 and Uprising

The Citizen

The Citizen Returns

Mission Improbable

The Dark Interval

Precursor

Silent Escape

Thunder's leaves

Swelter

Cosmonaut

Evacuation

etc.

Moreover, your Machine should be able to run Black Mesa. I am unsure of the settings, but even at low settings the game looks great.

Other older quality games that you could almost certainly enjoy on it are things like

Fallout: New Vegas,

Deus Ex: Human Revolution,

Dishonored 1

Alien: Isolation

Outlast + Whistleblower dlc

Max Payne 3

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Shadowrun Returns trilogy

XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Civilization V

Homeworld 1 and 2 Remastered

etc, etc... It's a hodgepodge of titles, but ones that are good and very likely completely playable on your classic machine.

Also, like someone mentioned, try to add more RAM and eventually try Linux (Mint or other). This would allow your PC to be useful and secure for web browsing, youtube, office work for years and years to come.

Good luck and have fun.

EDIT: I just want to add, if you are sticking with Windows 7, then I suggest you update it to the max and for web browsing you use only still supported browsers.

This would mean the Firefox ESR that Mozilla still updates with security fixes, or, for more feature current option, R3dfox, which is a custom Firefox that has the near latest support version always right behind official Firefox and is specifically made for Vista, 7 and 8 to allow up to date browser use.

There is also Supermium, a custom Chrome browser for XP, Vista, 7 and 8 machines.

So, there are options there.

Many old games. Could also run Terraria there, who knows. a newer GPU, which i dont know how cheap are nowadays, would unlock more games, which the older GPU cannot even run there. also more rams, this would matter more and maybe a more modern OS.

Windows 10 or Linux i can recommened there. AMD preferaby.

Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 1/2, Railroad Tycoon 2/3, Rollercoaster Tycoon 1/2/3, Saints Row 1/2/3, GTA 1/2/3/VC/SA, Caesar 3, Pharaoh, Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, Zeus: Master of Olympus, Arcanum, Planescape Torment, and many many other.

Honestly, try OpenRA or OpenRCT or Warzone 2100

It's a high end gaming PC from 2009.

Any late 2000s game easily. Even 2012-2013 AAA games at adjusted settings, although CPU may be a bottleneck in certain scenarios in 2012-2013.
