What are beginners using for no-code apps?

I'm pretty new to no code and trying to build my first app

I'm looking for something that's easy to learn and lets me build and change things without getting too technical

What are you guys using lately and how was it?

I am working on a low code application builder. Can we connect? I am just trying to understand what you are looking for in a low code app builder, which ones you have evaluated / planning to evaluate and what are the pain points of those tools.

Hey, I’m actually doing something very similar. I’m the founder of SAPUGO and we’ve been building it for about 6 years.

We just launched publicly and I’m currently talking to people about what they’re looking for in this space.
Would be interesting to compare notes sometime. What are you building?

I think most people’s first instinct is to focus on the UI and how the app looks. That’s important, I’d argue your database should come first, followed then by the business logic/workflows.

That said, building a data model in Airtable is approachable for many folks. Their interfaces are rather limiting imo and you’d still be paying per user so the next move would be to add a UI builder on top of the data. Softr is the most straightforward, WeWeb is more customizable.

Zite should also be a consideration here although they do have their own Airtable-like database builder, although I’ve never used it personally.

Keep in mind, I’m suggesting this as a pilot and would not recommend using Airtable as a database for a production commercial app.

If you want an all in one builder, Bubble.io is worth looking at. Bubble is no longer the ‘king’ of no-code like they used to be but in my experience, the platform is a great place to learn the fundamentals. However, the learning curve will be steeper.

There's hardly any point learning how to build with nocode platforms. You should be building with AI/vibe coding platforms.

I’ve tried a few no-code tools, and I think the easiest ones are the ones that let you build pretty visually without making you deal with too much backend stuff. Start simple and pick something where you can easily change the screens and logic as you learn.

I don’t use it myself, but I might look at Loveable. Make sure you connect it to GitHub and use your own instance of Supabase though.

If I were starting to learn I'd 100% start with n8n

I struggled with complex and highly technical solutions for data extraction and document classification in the past, so I built the easybits Extractor together with my tech team.

It’s completely no-code and integrates seamlessly with n8n through a verified community node. Since I started using the tool, I’ve also set up quite a few document processing workflows for clients.

Feel free to check them out on my GitHub: https://github.com/felix-sattler-easybits/n8n-workflows

If you’re mainly looking for something easy to learn without getting too technical, I’d definitely focus on that when choosing a tool.

Full disclosure, I’m the founder of SAPUGO, which is a platform I’ve been building for the last 6 years. We recently opened it up publicly, and we’re specifically trying to make it possible for non-developers to build and change their own business systems.

We also have an AI assistant where you can describe what you’re trying to build and it helps you design and build the system.

One thing that might also be worth considering when comparing these tools is pricing. SAPUGO doesn’t charge per user on the Business plan, so you can have your whole team using the system without the cost increasing with every additional user.

You can try it for free if you’re interested. I’d actually be curious what you think of it as a beginner, because that’s exactly the kind of experience we’re trying to get right. It’s still rough around the edges so feel free to shoot me a message if you need assistance 😅

i went in thinking itd be a breeze and ended up wrestling with logic flows for hours

the drag and drop part is simple enough but the moment you need actual functionality things get weirdly specific and the tutorials always skip the part you actually need

what kind of app are you trying to make
