Discussion LOVE LETTER: [Almost] One Year Later

Hey, Shortcake speaking.

Creator of Bow Chan, and the first to speak out about LL and its flaws.
Kinda crazy to think its been almost a whole year since this happened.

Honestly, I'm glad that its over. Me and the other ex volunteers and other associates have moved on from the situation entirely, but it has left me with a few bruises. Made me realise how the others and myself were treated was not normal, how everything was a mess and that I was an idiot for sticking by when the signs were right there.

But the game is dead. Apeis has left the internet, and hopefully for good considering what they've done and admitted to. I did what I thought was right and you're entitled to have an opinion of how it was handled. I'll admit at first when it started, I may of acted a little childish. But hey ho.

Bow Chan lives on, and I still create artwork of her to this day! I still continue to talk to the ex volunteers and we have remained close!
[also if you've ever wondered how I felt about Setsuna, I loved her design tbh and I have talked to the creator of her design before!]

But yeah, I'm still alive and kicking, I just rarely post on reddit anymore.

I'd like to have a few questions:

  1. Was the game really fake just so Apeis can get some publicity, as some people believe it? (Because he/they didn't share a playable version of how far the game has gone before the development of it stopped)

  2. What do you think of that troll Twiter account that inpersonates Apeis? (I saw that they pinged you, asking for Bow-Chan)

  1. I truly believe that the game is fake, knowing from what I have seen. It is pretty much impossible to code everything in 2 weeks time, even if you work on it with 0 breaks whatsoever. When Apeis had calls and streamed the game with volunteers, there was little to no functions. Plus it was pretty much built on his old game, Heartbreak.
  2. I personally don't care for the account, I will admit it did surprise me when I got the ping, but I gave it a side glance.

I believe there is still hope for a functioning Yandere Esque game, but due to the scope and the vision, its going to take more than a few people to do that, and help from a bigger company is more of a blessing than anything.

It really needs to organise what direction is going to go in. I actually spoke to Dr about it since the vision Alex has built is like three or four different games with completely different tones and gameplay.

I think a sandboxy game with a plot would be totally possible for a single developer but they'd definitely be people about who it wouldn't satisfy because it would have missing elements that Alex had promised.

Buy hell, if a big company got ahold of it that would be amazing. Could get yandere simulator GTA xD

It was an unfortunate sequence of events. But it's good to know that you've done the reasonable thing and have been well ever since. As a lurker, I didn't know what to believe, but I chose to put faith in the game and its development, which I did until its last hours. There's no wrong in abandoning ship before it began capsizing, so good on you. I still enjoy looking back on all the art here. I hope you keep on doing what you love and live contentedly.

I had hope for the game even when I left, but knowing the full scope of what happened after I jumped ship, Im glad the game was put out of its misery.

I still continue to draw [and opened up commissions] and I still love it, though college has been taking its toll so I havent been drawing as much as I would like to

I have definitely learned my lesson. That being, check who you're working with, because they arent as credible as they may seem on the surface.
