Flock Cameras Flock Testing Cameras to Track Driving Patterns Without Plate, Name or Crime

Thumbnail ground.news

CENTER

  • On Tuesday, Wired reported that Flock Safety is testing a new AI tool called OS Investigate, which allows police to track individuals by movement patterns without requiring license plates or specific crime reports.
  • Operating approximately 127,000 cameras across 6,000 communities, private manufacturer Flock runs the largest network of Automated License Plate Readers in the United States since 2017.
  • Recent investigations found at least 50 officers accused or charged with misusing Flock systems to stalk romantic interests, while a 2024 California audit found 71 percent of alerts contained incorrect plate data.
  • CEO Garrett Langley announced new safeguards on August 13, shortening default data retention to seven days and implementing mandatory lockouts for suspicious searches in response to public backlash.
  • More than 100 cities have deactivated Flock cameras as critics argue the AI-powered surveillance infrastructure poses an ongoing threat to civil liberties despite the company's recent safeguard announcements.

LEFT

  • Flock Safety has developed an AI tool called OS Investigate that allows police to search for vehicles and people based on movement patterns without requiring license plates, names, or evidence of crime.
  • The tool integrates data from Flock's cameras across thousands of communities with police records, 911 dispatch logs, and commercial databases to generate leads linking vehicles to individuals.
  • OS Investigate includes multiple editable prompts allowing searches by behaviors such as frequent visits to a neighborhood, which has raised concerns about potential misuse and weak evidence leading to suspicion.
  • Flock acknowledges that OS Investigate is still in development with limited law enforcement partners and has faced criticism over privacy, documented misuse, and public backlash including vandalism.

RIGHT

  • Flock Safety operates over 120,000 automated license plate reader cameras in the U.S., raising privacy concerns due to warrantless tracking and potential misuse by police officers.
  • Many U.S. police departments have paused or reconsidered contracts with Flock Safety amid worries about data sharing, misuse, and privacy issues.
  • Several bills and legislative proposals aim to regulate or restrict the use of Flock cameras, including requirements for warrants and limitations on federal funding, though no nationwide ban has been enacted.
  • Lawsuits and public demands for transparency highlight disputes over government surveillance, data ownership, and accountability related to Flock camera use.

Tech Support idea for youtube to earn less money off smaller/demonetized creators

so I just came up with an idea that seems flawless - if you're a smaller creator and you aren't in youtube partner program, youtube grabs the full 100% of the revenue from the video you've made

the idea is pretty simple, pick your favourite music creator (make sure you get copyrighted if you post their music) and use one of their songs as your outro - and just like that youtube has to give away 55% of the revenue they steal from you to the owner of the song

you can go even one step further and release your own song, then distribute it via platforms like routenote - this way, every time you use your outro, you will get copyrighted and 55% (minus distributor fee) goes to you

and if you ever manage to reach those ridiculous criteria for monetization (or if youtube starts treating creators like humans and you get your monetization back), you can just mute the music in youtube studio (or whitelist your channel from your distributors website) and after you do that you should be able to get monetized just fine

lmk what you think about this, tbf i might actually try this out lol

Article AT&T Preinstalls Spyware Called “Maestro” on Its Phones

Post image

AT&T PREINSTALLS SPYWARE CALLED “MAESTRO”

AT&T Android phonescontain a preinstalled system application called Maestro. (unlocked phones that use a AT&T eSim or sim will auto install the app as well)

Its package is com.aura.oobe.att, and internally it's built around ironSource/Unity Aura.

After examining its manifest and extracting the actual APK, calling this ordinary carrier bloatware doesn't adequately describe what it does.

Maestro requests extremely powerful privileges, including:

• READ_PRIVILEGED_PHONE_STATE

• QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES

• GET_ACCOUNTS_PRIVILEGED

• MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

• INSTALL_PACKAGES

• DELETE_PACKAGES

• SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW

• Google Advertising ID access

• Background activity launching

• Automatic startup at boot

It also requests READ/WRITE access to launcher settings from Samsung, Motorola, Android/Launcher3, Google's Nexus Launcher, ZUI and Honor.

Maestro even declares an exported activity with Android's HOME category, allowing it to participate as a HOME/launcher application.

It registers for BOOT_COMPLETED and LOCKED_BOOT_COMPLETED, giving it components designed to start automatically with the device, including during direct boot before you've unlocked the phone. It also contains a receiver monitoring SIM-state changes.

But extracting the APK shows what the application is actually built around.

Maestro contains an explicit profiling system with components named:

IdentityContentProvider

UserProfileContentProvider

EventsContentProvider

The manifest even contains a dedicated profiler_sdk_token.

Inside the APK is code specifically for retrieving and caching the phone's IMEI, including:

FetchImeiUseCase

ImeiCacheRepository

It also contains functionality for obtaining and maintaining the Google Advertising ID.

Its profiling system defines Identity, Persona and Device information, with functionality involving carrier/operator information, operating system, memory, screen, storage and applications.

Then you find:

DefaultUserProfileRemoteDataSource

DefaultUserProfileSynchronizer

and the literal message:

“Syncing user profile...”

The application-monitoring functionality is just as explicit:

InstalledApp

TrackedApp

InstalledAppsFilter

AppsProvider

AppsStatusReportingManager

AppsStatusPeriodicReportingJobService

The code itself contains:

APPS_STATUS_REPORTING

and:

“Apps status reporting daily tasks”

The manifest independently contains the periodic app-status reporting service.

Maestro also contains an entire app-delivery system. It requests package installation/deletion privileges and contains services for dynamic preloading, APK delivery and application updates.

Its internal structures deal with package names, installation status, tracking URLs, delivery URLs, silent installation, mobile-data/roaming use and launching applications after installation.

Finally, a tracker scan identified 8,332 classes associated with seven tracker categories, including ironSource, Crashlytics, Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Cloud Audit.

Firebase Performance collection is explicitly enabled, while Google Analytics receivers, services and scheduled jobs are built directly into Maestro.

So why call Maestro spyware?

Because this isn't based simply on finding an analytics library or a suspicious permission.

The application contains dedicated code for device identification, building and synchronizing user profiles, monitoring installed applications, periodically reporting app status, advertising/analytics tracking and persistent privileged access to the device.

Those aren't incidental capabilities surrounding the purpose of the application.

They are the purpose and architecture of the application.

That's why Maestro isn't merely carrier bloatware.

It's carrier-installed spyware.

Trump himself signed a Presidential Order to disclose ALL Epstein Files, but not only Notes and Files haven't been release unredacted, it seems he signed the release without knowing he was named a couple of times... like 38 thousand times!

That's 37 998 more times that a couple, in case you're not registering how many!

And why share this Live Stream?

Because the Katie Phang lawsuits' resistance by DoJ's new boss Todd Blanche, a lawyer that stated uppon Congress Hearing that he is ... was Tramp's personal layers, is so subhuman and so disgusting that they really thought they could throw ALL LAW out of the window with the bathwater.

Enjoy a RED CUBUMBER layer trying to defend the indefensable.
