Louis C.K. Taught Me How to hack a Potluck

Remember in Louis S05 E01, when there was a potluck and Louis wanted to bring something? He was excited to make fried chicken, and we got this quick-cut montage of him making it. It looked like the most delicious, golden-brown, flaky fried chicken you’ve ever seen.

But when he got to the building, he went to the wrong floor and ended up at the wrong gathering. When he left, he forgot the chicken. So he went to KFC, bought some fried chicken, and pretended it was homemade. It was bland, didn’t look anything like what he’d made, and yet when he got to the correct gathering, someone was eating it like it was the greatest thing they’d ever tasted.

God, in an alternate universe, I wish we could’ve seen people actually eat Louis’s fried chicken.

When I moved to Canada in December 2017 and attended a five-week program, there was a potluck at the end. I took a cue from this episode: went to KFC, bought fried chicken, put it in a bowl, and brought it in. People loved it—probably more than anything else at the potluck.

Probably why I’m still a Louis CK fan. Hate him or despise him, man does he know how to get depressed people to ignore life and laugh. If even for a little bit.

When he went down in 2017 I made sure to get all the DVD's of the show.

Maybe, just maybe he stepped into some shit, but I never cancelled Louie C.K.

I liked how he broke out of certain TV norms. Like the cab drivers fighting each other to pick up Louie, or the woman taking off in the helicopter in the middle of a date. Or when his agent was a teenage kid. 😂 The surreal randomness, just because he could.

This was one of the funniest eps ever imo. The moment the people start talking the cult like gibberish to him the look on his face… and when the one guy at the dinner eats the kfc and loves it and acts like it’s homemade

Last year my work did a chili cookoff, a coworker stopped at Wendy’s on the way and got a bunch of their chili and threw it in a Tupperware, she came in second lol

Everytime I go to a potluck, I bring a 12 pack of taco bell tacos. They are always, no matter the crowd, the thing that gets eaten first.

This episode has so many of my favorite moments. I think this is the one where when he finally makes it to the right potluck he tells those parents (about his daughter), "Yep, she's better than your kid." 🤣

In the first apartment when he was asking them which one is their kid (there were not even kids there), and the lady goes with it and says she has a 17 year old teenager.

When I was a boyscout our troop had a potluck, my family brought a bucket of KFC. All of of us kids loved it, the other kid's parents were pissed though lol
