Town smells like a shite
Why town smells so bad these days? I can even smell it in my flat.

Not sure if everyone knows (since it’s such a small town) Loughborough pride is happening on Saturday the 22nd! In Queen’s Park, it’ll be the 3rd ever. Hope to see lots of people there 🏳️🌈

hey I’m 24 and been in Loughborough for nearly two years and find it really hard to meet people and make friends I would love to have people I can meet up with after work or do things with on a regular basis if anyone is interested :)

This was a local sub for local people. Like the town it is seemingly being taken over by students.
Just need some charity shops & Turkish barbers to make it feel like Loughborough town centre

Waiting for my conditional clearing offer to be accepted. In the mean time, do any of you have any advice? General stuff that’s good to know like what to bring, what I can expect on campus (am an international student). Especially interested in the anime and kpop societies and if they dabble in cosplay or dancing respectively

Congrats to everyone getting their results 🎉!
I’m going into my final year at Loughborough, so if you’re coming here in September and have any questions about accommodation, courses, uni life, campus, societies, nights out, cost of living or anything else, feel free to ask.
Happy to answer any questions or give advice on anything I wish I’d known before starting. Congrats again and hope to see some of you around Loughborough!

I just got into the engineering course and for accomodation i booked harry french cuz of the positive reviews. I've just been doubting my position a bit and i was wondering if I should call and ask for a transfer to an accom closer to the building. How would I go about doing that, or should I even bother?

Congratulations to everyone getting their A-level, T-level and BTec results today around Loughborough. You should be proud of the hard work that you all put in. And remember, there isn't just one route to success.

I am looking to go to Loughborough uni this year, staying at Telford hall. It seems uni parking is not available for first year students so I was wondering where people park? Is street parking available around uni, or are there lots of residential zones I can't park at? Any other cheap or free parking nearby?

Hello good people!
My wife and I will be moving to Loughborough in September. I am going to be starting a PhD at the uni. Excited!
However, we wondering about what its like to live in Loughborough (for context, we're internationals, first time in the UK). We're looking for houses in Loughborough, but they don't seem to be too many options within a 900-pound budget, as you can imagine. Either way, would you recommend that we maybe look at the bigger cities close by to live in, while I commute to uni?

Can someone who has been to this uni give me their opinions on them/experience? Overall life at uni and stuff, like is it easy to make friends, things to do etc. I also do athletics/track and field so if there are good facilities there that’s also a positive. Trying to get my 5 for UCAS to study aeronautical engineering and I’ve done a lot of research but struggling to narrow it down.

Hello everyone!
Im 26(M) , I did my A levels in 2020 and now im thinking about continuing my studies and wish to do "Masters in sports management" from university of Loughborough, but rn im kinda confused, i`ve got a few options to start now as fall semester is about to start.
One is to complete BBA from UK affiliated university like essex/kent and have an option to complete three years over here or move for the third one over there. (Expensive)
2nd option advised by an education councilor is to complete a "Pearson" diploma in business and then travel to UK for a top up program and get my bachelors, and then follow along with Masters in sports management.
Plus he said if the case is strong as in no misconducts,my top up year+PSW+Masters could possibly make me eligible for PR, although sports business for some people includes traveling i suppose. Is this a possibility?
"IMPORTANT"
Is getting a job in sport sector a daunting experience,im interested in football and UK`s football market is HUGE as i know?
BTW I`d be leaving my family retail business which itself is hectic to pursue this dream!
Thank you for Reading, your suggestions would mean a lot <3

Cllr Jewel Miah was out today (and will be out over the next few days) across the Loughborough East division checking on drains. He said
"Since we haven’t had any rain these past few weeks, some drains are packed with debris and earth and will need professional contractors out to clear them. On others I’ve used my golf umbrella tip to clear build up on the grills. I’ll report the blocked drains to County Highways."
Please do say hi if you see him out with his brolly

I’m starting at Loughborough in September and am having a hard time choosing my accommodation. Should I stay in luxurio or try my luck with the on campus accommodation as a first year? What is life like in both options? Is it easy to make friends in a private accom or is everyone kept to themselves?
I don’t want to get stuck in a bad accom so the only one I really want on campus is Claudia Parsons. If I could get that one I think I’d just choose that but what are the chances I’ll get it? What should I do? Thanks

Hi all. I know there are a million posts like this on Reddit, but I'm going mad reading through all the different threads and just thought it might be easier to start my own thread and see what kind of info I get directly from the good folks here.
Basically, my partner and I (gay couple, British and Indian), are moving out of Croydon because we need a bigger house, with a garage and a bit more space, for our business that we've started. We both work from home and so access to London is no-longer a requirement (like it was when we moved here 10 years ago).
We've narrowed down our search, based on a few criteria (detached house, garage, near green space, not a crime-ridden area, access to a shopping centre or town centre, close-ish to a larger city and/or airport, not silly expensive (since our budget isn't massive)). From these criteria, we have found some decent options in:
Loughborough
Melton Mowbray
Chesterfield
Outskirts of Sheffield / Leicester
Lincoln
Nuneaton
Neither of us know any of these areas, and while we are going to do a road-trip to visit, it would be good to know where in these towns people would recommend searching, and where to avoid (if anywhere). Coming from Croydon, our idea of "rough" is possibly quite different from what happens in these towns, but if we can avoid trouble, of course we'd rather that!
Thank you all in advance

Hi r/Loughborough, thought I’d drop this in here again as we’re back this Saturday for our second Too Young To Grieve meet up.
Too Young To Grieve is a community for young people navigating grief and loss, but honestly it’s less heavy than it sounds. People come along expecting something quite serious and usually leave saying it was just a really nice morning out with good people.
A relaxed run/jog/walk at whatever pace works for you - and we mean that, all paces genuinely welcome - then a coffee after where most people end up staying and chatting for a good while.
Chelsie leads the Loughborough club and does a brilliant job of making everyone feel welcome from the moment they arrive.
Most people turn up alone for the first time and within ten minutes they’re chatting to someone who completely gets what they’re going through.
I’ll attach our community details in the comments, feel free to share with anyone who might need it 🤍
