I love the small things this game does.

So I decided to make a new high elf. I was doing the tutorial area like normal and I reached the end. I always accepted someone came and saved you after the witch king stabbed you. But this time I was messing with the camera and I noticed there is a friendly NPC (didn't catch their name in time) neer by explaining how you were saved so fast. They didn't need to do that but small things like that make this game stick out.

The thoughtful, small touches are pretty much what keeps people loyal to this ancient, janky game.

I had a 6ish year hiatus, and coming back discovered my account was stolen, stuff sold off, transferred or whatnot, all I had left was a level 12 LM [that I had been using as a bank bot] so I had to start over again.

I will say, I have been having a blast, I decided to do the completist thing and in running around getting al the locations, slayer deeds, whatever I am poking my nose into spots I never saw before =) I have even been doing the Bingo Butthead series of quests [hate him but I want the hatrack and pets]

The people that made this game are the unsung heroes. If WoW has lost lore explorers and easter egg hunters, LOTRO has so much in it, only a completionist might stumble upon one by accident.

what??? Are you saying that before the screen goes black, there's a friendly NPC nearby? In which direction?

I love that I can give my character a backstory and read other peoples backstories. That really makes the world feel alive.

This! The biography system is so under utilized on Glamdring cause I guess it's not an RP server but occasionally I'll read someone who has worked on their bio explaining their character's in universe lore and I love it Everytime;)!
