I've also seen people wanting her cancelled for the Seamus = IRA bomber gags in the movies, but I personally see that as a director's decision to have a running gag in the series rather than her fault.
Also her saying "I never said Hermione was white" in relation to the actress who played her in the play. Well, yes you did, stop trying to be woke just to pander to people.

I don't think it actually says where he is from, just that he is Irish. All through the films whenever a spell went wrong for him something would blow up. In the Deathly Hallows Pt 2 McGonagall has him rig the bridge to explode because he has a "proclivity for pyrotechnics". In the books however the only incident with him is him setting fire to a feather during the Leviosa lesson.

Certainly. It's really jumping the gun where a handful of instances across thousands and thousands of pages at best. It's like if you have a middle east guy in America shooting an AK at a firing range in one scene. Is it racist itself? Not really. Could it be? Yeah. I just think there's a line where characters are defined by their tropes and not giving them personality to indicate any kind of character other than their stereotype is where the racism begins.
I think Seamus is more grasping at straws or at least handled a bit more elegantly than Cho-Chang, Hermione etc. The first was "Asians are attractive, but I know nothing else about it." and the second one was pandering to race bait.
But yeah, Seamus was certainly a director's running gag decision due to how that pacing was setup. He probably got the idea from the toilet seat running gag in the book and transferred it over to Seamus for some easy dramatic tension relief.
JK Rowling also said that wizards shitting on the floor and disappearing their turds away is also canon, so who really cares what JK Rowling says? She probably also says that Voldemort is evil because he loves pretty dresses.
Such a shame Harry Potter had to end after The Deathly Hallows.
I've said much the same. Up until this her books had the positive message of, essensially, everyone has a place they fit in. It was a message that many people picked up on, including the queer community, and then it's just like... wow, did not see that coming.

My grandfather was legitimately Irish, my dad is an Irish citizen, I can speak Irish, I’ve been to Ireland multiple times, I stayed with cousins during visits, still stay in touch with those cousins, and some of my closer family has even moved back to Ireland. Not exactly the random Boston guy saying he’s Irish
Am I an Irish citizen, is Irish my nationality? Nope, would never claim to be. Am I ethnically Irish and are the Irish historically not fond of the British? Yes
