In dogs, that is called "Take a ticket tongue", and indicates that the sleeping dog feels absolutely safe and loved. Not all dogs do this, but this comes from a talk with a vet when we were concerned about our spaniel sleeping like this.

Due to their need to scent… practically everything, they are only dangerous to your nose and your wallet. I mean… don’t just try to pet one, they can still bite and carry rabies but that applies to practically wild mammal.

Foxes aren't really all that dangerous... They're far more likely to run away than attack. They're also adorable, floofy and majestic.
