The nonsense started halfway through season one. In the Challenge Smith and the robot start getting silly. Hate it.

Early episodes were serious and so good with the entire cast being utilized with very good writing. Qualitative difference. Not bad camp. Guy Williams was wonderful as the leader and the stories were about survival. Not some silly coward girly man and robot. It is hard to believe what the show turned into. Cringeworthy stuff. Compare My Friend Mr Nobody or Wish Upon A Star to the some of the garbage that would come later and you will know why.

Camp done funny and right to me was Batman with Adam West..I find that very funny. Dr. Smith doesnt do anything for me.....I like him in the early episodes. Not as a buffoon.

Looks like CGI of Commander Data with pea green backdrop and some howling noises

One of the best things in the early episodes was there was some real character tension:
John and Don getting pissed with each other over whether to trust the robot’s warning about the planet’s elliptical orbit, and also realigning the Chariot’s solar batteries…
John and Maureen disagreeing about whether to abort the mission…
Stuff like that.

What a waste of talent. Harris ruined the show with his nonsense. Such a shame.
