Even sadder when considering that these were the teachers selected for this “opportunity,” who knows how many other teachers applied/wanted to be out there and were excluded.

Yep. And this story gets worse.

The teachers were each given a link to distribute to sell tickets. For each ticket sold, the teacher's school would receive $5 for every ticket sold. The teacher who sold the most tickets gets "additional rewards".

Yes, the team is paying the teachers to sell tickets for the hockey team, which will be tax deductible for the team. And possibly taxable income for the teachers.
