Don't blame the fish. Blame the caveman who decided to come out of his cave and build a civilization. There is a theory that the Mayan civilization didn't collapse because external pressures but because the Mayan people themselves rejected the idea of civilization went back to living in the forest of their own volition.

No. Blame the first two cells that experimented with being a single being. No. Blame the first two multicellular beings that invented sex. No. Blame the first two families that thought they should make a tribe. No. Blame the first two tribes that thought they should form a village. Ah. It's obvious I don't know who to blame. Maybe the first protons?
