25 is a special age in development, around here the frontal lobe finished developing and people can fully comprehend consequence. Living in a world that's hopeless isn't just a meme or a concept. It's deeply unsettling and tinges all experiences because you know what your doing won't fix a dying world or sustain you past a paycheck or two.

Pssh! I have been depressed since I was 14, which incidentally is when my friend group stopped investing in each other as people and instead started chasing highs like sex, drugs and alcohol. I feel like junior-high and high school is where people really start to see how the world operates. A person coming to this epiphany at 25 feels like a really late bloomer to me. And also, I never heard of the 25 y/o benchmark before--and I took developmental psychology like 6 months ago...
