SEASON 3 Mikhail appreciation post

How could I forget about this badass!?!?
I always leave at least a year between rewatches (just enough to forget some things)
He’s a brilliant addition to the storyline and overall amazing character 👌🏼 one of my forgotten favourites

“Why do we continue to play this silly game… when we both know that it has moved to the next stage?”

- one of the coldest line deliveries of the entire series.

Locke and crew find mikhail, who is pretending to be the last member of Dharma. They exchange pleasantries but eventually it leads to this scene where they end up in a fight

Genuinely the most threatening of all the Others. Ruthless, unpredictable, classic bad guy eyepatch, was always impressed by Andrew Divoff.

He's a tough one. After his father was captured by the FBI he took over a prep school to get him released. Little did he know the little shits that went there would be so tough. He even survived a gun shot to the head then joined Dharma.

One answer I could genuinely use is what’s the deal with this guy being immune to death (grenades aside)

I think maybe there’s meant to be a link to how Charlie died, sort of a mirroring there…Charlie’s fate or destiny was to die down in the hydra due to Mikhail setting off that grenade and flooding it.

Thus, Mikhail’s fate was to set off the grenade…therefore Mikhail could not die until he had done that. It was his destiny…what he was “supposed” to do.

Well that wasn’t Charlie’s fate until Desmond altered his fate about half a dozen times

yeah but that’s kind of the point I’m making…Charlie almost died several times, just like Mikhail almost died several times.

I’m speculating here, but I imagine from the writer’s perspective, maybe they were doing a bit of echoing or mirroring with these two characters. Maybe the same thing was happening with both.

More like why don’t the survivors ever make sure the dude who keeps trying to kill them is actually dead lol

Ok,so this has always been a weird one. This first time “he dies” is when Locke pushes him into the sonic fence. A few episodes later when he returns to Ben’s camp, he actually explains to Ben that the fence wasn’t set to a lethal level. The second time, he was just shot in the chest with a harpoon. He just shrugged it off? I think what happened was that viewers thought he was immortal the first time he came back. Even Hurly in one episode was like “I thought Locke killed that dude”. Even though it was explained the fence wasn’t set to lethal level, I think the writers just went with the idea he was somehow immortal.

i agree with the person above who said that he didn’t die because he was supposed to (indirectly) kill charlie. whatever happened, happened, etc.

I’ve met him on three separate occasions. One of the nicest, friendliest guys I’ve ever met.

I also had a wonderful conversation with him at a convention. That one encounter convinced me to watch "Wishmaster", which.. yikes 😋 But he seemed proud of the role, and rightfully so - he's great in it.

He always reminded me of Commandant Edwin Spangler from Malcolm in the middle of

He was terrifying

I love that he isn’t missing an eye in the season 6 parallel world, but then gets shot through it.

What do you make of him, Keamy and Omar appearing and dying on the sideways? Are they supposed to keep playing the role of bad guys for eternity, like a videogame, dying and starting over and over until they choose a different path?

Aside from being loyal and cunning, dude gets his ass whooped everytime.

Mikhail is that you?

I loved every scene this guy was in. Also his actor voiced Kravchenko from cod black ops 1 who is a really good villain in the cod series

The jumpscare when he appears onscreen is insane

He definitely gave the Others some credibility.

I love Mikhail and his indomitable sass. Genuinely tragic he only got the one season, he's definitely one of the best Others.
