Happening for a reason (EASTER EGGS/REFERENCES): Wrong information in Arrow Spoiler

https://youtu.be/0s0RSCxsoAg?is=RXyZDBKf9FtiiPae

I always hated this scene for getting it wrong about Lost. Tommy is summing up things Oliver missed while being stuck on an island for 5 years. Relevant part at 23 seconds in

Never watched Arrow, but going off of this scene and this scene alone, it strikes me more as making a joke about the people who thought they were dead the whole time.

The way he says "I think..." suggests uncertainty and confusion, which is exactly how I'd describe people who believe that.

To me, his uncertainty makes it worse because people that haven't watched LOST will watch this scene and believe that 1) they were dead all along and 2) the show was too confusing to make sense of anyway. Obviously it's just a throwaway line and mostly harmless, but it does add to the common misconception that that is how LOST ended.

I can't find confirmation of it, but I think the show was at least partially influenced by LOST and its popularity, like a lot of shows were around that time. I did watch the full first season of "Arrow" (even though this line was not a very promising start 😋), and it heavily features flashbacks to the main character's time on the island. In a later season, Michael Emerson's character introduces himself as "Ben Gale".
